Akinjo will never make a leap, especially not after next season. No disrespect, as I like his game and think he will have a great college career, but his size and inability to finish in the lane at the college level will keep him from ever sniffing the next level. Ouch, he's only 18. Give the kid a chance. He just dropped 20+ points on national TV. Yeah, I would say there are two things wrong with that statement: 1. It is a tad bit premature. 2. "sniffing" is too strong a verb/word.

Step lost to Christ the King 56-61. RJ had 22-8-5 with just one turnover. Not the greatest shooting splits but still a respectable performance in front of Pat. My only thing is I'm not sure why Ewing has his foot on the gas like this unless he thinks RJ can be a lead guard and that having a lead guard is going to be an urgent need sooner than later. Might be thinking Akinjo or Mac could make the leap next season. It could also be a long-con, but I can't remember the last time Georgetown recruited a player with this intensity. Akinjo will never make a leap, especially not after next season. No disrespect, as I like his game and think he will have a great college career, but his size and inability to finish in the lane at the college level will keep him from ever sniffing the next level. Never? BS. If he is special, continues with his improving jump shots and continues to be engaged on defense, then he will make it. He has the killer instinct.

"sniffing" is too strong a verb/word. James is not the first "smallish" point guard to struggle finishing around the rim in his early college career. I think most PG's his size take a little while to get used to the length and athletes of the opponents at a high D1 level. He seems to have adjusted and improved his game in most areas all year and I have no reason to doubt that he will improve his finishing around the rim. He is not a really small PG, in the 5'8" - 5' 9" range, but he does seem to lack a little explosiveness when he gets into the lane. He is really quick and has a tremendous handle, but that final jump is not that explosive. That will likely improve somewhat as he matures and gets physically stronger and I am sure can work with the staff and finding cagey ways to finish these plays at the rim. I expect great things from James in the next few years. Will he become an NBA player? I think it is a little early to judge that right now. While he has some of the skills needed to make it in the league, that lack of explosiveness might hold him back if he can't find a way to compensate for that. For now I am thrilled he is a Hoya

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care if he finishes those drives "at the rim". The little floaters he's been putting up recently have been far more effective. If his drives result in a Floater, he gets fouled, or an outlet to an open teammate... we should all be happy.
His partner McClung finishes really well and is a master at drawing fouls. Fortunately, both guys hit their FTs at a high rate.
Future is bright for our young backcourt and the team

James just needs to learn to finish by going up and under to the opposite side when finishing instead of showing the ball to the shot blocker on the attack side...use the basket as a protector and he'll be a lot more successful with his drives...smaller guys have been doing this for years...

Watched the game. CTK made someone other than RJ Davis (20 lst half points) and Adrian Griffin Jr. beat them in the 2nd half and it worked. Moussa Cisse of CTK (reportedly 7' and a sophomore) is a REAL player. Guy impressed me to no end. Big time rim protector, finisher off lobs, athleticism through the roof. Reportedly offered by Patrick after the game. This is the Jamaican center recruit we could use (as opposed to Kofi Cockburn in this class). Back to the Stepinac kids, Davis is a player. Handled the ball very well, can finish in traffic. The kid's a player. After watching more film on Griffin, this kid is excellent. NBA 3 pt. plus range on his jumper, great hops. Super instincts. Already shares the ball well from the high post.
Give me all 3 of these guys.

It would be great if Davis would pop for us early. I really like his ability to stroke it.

I would bet on the coach letting him stay in longer to break Kenny's record.
