If there was a Kenner League this year, Malcolm Wilson would've been the player I would've wanted to hear the most about. We haven't seen him play in over a year and I would've liked to have seen how he progressed in his redshirt season. He could really block shots, and I would've liked to have seen what else he learned last season and how much he improved.

I sent a twitter text to Malcolm Wilson earlier this summer, or recently asking: Where are you at in preparation for this Hoya season? What will Hoyas fans notice about you this season? He responded, "I hope to be a great asset this year!"
I thanked him and wished him and the Hoyas the very best this season.
I am thankful that he took the time to reply.

I saw it too and was impressed 1. That he did it 2. Did it so well 3. Seems pretty committed to GU 4. OK, he was just sitting in front of a laptop or phone, we could only see his head and shoulders, but to me he looked bigger and older. Not saying he suddenly looks like Timmy, but he looked SO darn skinny last year. In that video he looked... normal.
I sure hope he gets a chance to show us he can play - whenever the team finally takes the floor.

I'm glad that Georgetown is, as ever, encouraging the players to not limit themselves to just balling. It's as important as it ever has been. The guys know they get way more attention than other students and I like seeing them use that added shine to speak up. Well done, Hoyas. As lic always says, it's about way more than basketball. I love that Georgetown has held this value for a long time and that we continue to do so.

In case anyone is interested here is what the committee's role is: "The mission of the Division I SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete well-being and fostering a positive student-athlete image. Specifically, Division I SAAC fulfills its mission by soliciting student-athlete responses to proposed NCAA legislation, reviewing and commenting on the governance structure, suggesting potential NCAA legislation and actively participating in the administrative process of athletics programs and the NCAA. Division I SAAC members accept the responsibility of representing and participating on behalf of thousands of Division I student-athletes and are further entrusted with keeping both campus and conference committees educated on the relevant issues affecting Division I." www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/ncaa-student-athlete-advisory-committees-saacs

I want to see more of this kid. In very limited action he looked athletic, agile, and aware. I think he’s got massive potential, including potential to be on the floor at the same time as Q/Tim. I hope Ewing doesn’t bury him.

I hope Ewing doesn’t bury him. I agree. I realize he's smaller framed than Ighoefe, and admittedly it was an extremely small sample of minutes, but I saw nothing warranting Ighoefe being ahead of Wilson on the depth chart. Ighoefe might guard bigger bigs better simply because of his size, but Wilson looked just as able overall.

Malcolm initially got bullied around trying to hold his position in the paint and may be a problem against true big men. He did look good on the boards however and is very agile. It would actually benefit him to play the 4 with Q or T in some situations. he definitely could be a rim runner.
I think Tim needs to settle down and get the rust off. He definitely looked like he belonged and can physically hold his own or be an advantage in a backup role. Definitely not a drop off from the physicality standpoint when he comes in for Q. To me, this is a position of strength that just needs more in game seasoning.

He doesn't look like he has added much muscle since he got on campus, but its also very possible he was even skinnier before this. Don't think for Tim its just a rust thing. Really just looks like Basketball IQ problems, which will obviously get better the longer he is around the sport. He just didn't know what to do at times and where to be. Has all the physical tools to be the best big man we have had in a while though which is why I understand the desire to tough it out even if in the short term he gives up a lot of fouls and easy buckets.

For longtime Hoya watchers, I want to throw out a Tom Scates comparison, about whom Coach Thompson said: "He is very intimidating, and few people want to go to the hoop against him." Tim will have to perfect the Tom Scates growl. While his stats were never that impressive over a season, my most memorable Tom Scates performance was a double double in an upset over Alabama, when Alabama's best player was Reggie King. Thompson's postgame comment: Alabama had King, but we had Kong. .

I did think Malcoms legs look stronger, especially around the quads/glutes but he still has a long way to go...still looking stick thin.

Would love to see Malcolm have a Henry Sims/Hilton Armstrong trajectory, as a big who learns a lot in his first couple of years and then really contributes as an upperclassmen.
