Anyone remember a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty? It applies to Cuomo too. The presumption of innocence is a legal standard. I’m not bound by it, and I don’t have to wait for a court proceeding to make a determination. The evidence as it stands is damning. So much so that top Democrats, including Biden, are calling for his resignation. I know you guys are very unfamiliar with holding people accountable when the truth comes out, but that’s something decent, reasonable expect. Agree completely.

Anyone remember a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty? It applies to Cuomo too. Sure, if you're looking to put someone in jail. There's an ethical requirement to his job that he, according to the investigation, failed miserably. Have you seen/heard anyone that's not a member of his family coming to his defense or denying the results of the investigation? If he had any integrity, he'd have resigned already. Now, he should be impeached. If memory serves me correctly, remember who was willing to lend credence to the crazy Hugo Chavez/Dominion Voting Systems conspiracy unless it was investigated and proven untrue? Yet here the same poster is willing to suddenly hew to a criminal legal standard of beyond a reasonable despite the findings of the NYAG supported by voluminous evidence (including testimony under oath of all the complainants) after a comprehensive investigation which Cuomo called for himself. Gimme a break! A link to the 165-page report is embedded in the Washington Post article if you are unwilling to trust its characterzations of that report. The complainants' sworn testimony is corroborated by other witness interviews as well as documentary evidence. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/cuomo-sexual-harassment-report/2021/08/03/705c42a4-f226-11eb-ab6f-b41a066381df_story.html

Cuomo has learned a lot from Trump, adopting his "everyone else is lying, only I tell the truth" approach.

This is what happens when people within your party stop supporting you and hold your feet to the fire. Contrast this with Trump’s attempted coup: he’s currently the front runner for 2024 and the undisputed head of the party. I guess the Democrats are the new party of accountability. Unless, of course, it’s trying to hold people accountable for imaginary things like rampant election fraud or drinking the blood of children. Republicans have cornered the market on that.

But they haven’t shut up. They don’t care about hypocrisy. I subscribe to the Fox News feed to see what idiocy they are spewing, and it’s all so dishonest. They are calling out celebrities who endorsed him and asking why they are silent now and other complete nonsense. Meanwhile “Mr. Grab-em-by-their-p*****s” has complete control of the party. Even Jim Jordan, who turned a blind eye to literally hundreds of cases of sexual abuse at Ohio State, and the quintessential Republican ignoramus Lauren Boebert, whose husband was found guilty of exposing himself to minors, had something to say about it. Just absolute shameless hypocrites.

Compare and contrast with MAGA GOP Cult/Party. Its commitment is to authoritarianism and lack of any responsibility. But Cuomo’s resignation—spurred by his complete abandonment by New York and national Democratic elites and the prospect of impeachment as well as civil and criminal liability—also says something important about the Democratic Party’s commitment to anti-authoritarianism. What Cuomo’s long career in state and national politics—and in particular his extraordinary popularity last spring—indicates is that Democrats are not immune to the appeal of would-be strongmen, especially when they feel under threat, as they did from the twin dangers of Donald Trump and the coronavirus. Democrats have done better in controlling and suppressing their own would-be authoritarians—there is no comparison between Trump and the Democratic presidents who surround him. www.lawfareblog.com/what-andrew-cuomos-resignation-reveals-about-state-american-democracy

We all knew this is what Republicans would do once they had power and the Supreme Court. The groundwork for this was laid in 2016. It’s easy to blame Republicans, but everyone knows who they are. No small amount of blame lays with the anti-Hilary Democrats who abstained from voting or voted for a third party candidate. There was too much on the line and people were too blinded by their hatred for her, too deeply self-satisfied that she didn’t “earn” their vote, to recognize that this was the inevitable fate of the Supreme Court, and abortion law, should Trump be elected. Now, tragically, here we are. This is probably just the first in a long line of Republican initiatives to dismantle Democratic policy.

The MAGA GOP is not just dismantling Democratic policies, it is engaged in an all out fascist assault upon democracy itself.
The Democrats have brought a knife to a gunfight. Where is the urgency?
Be prepared for September 18th.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Far right extremist groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are planning to attend a rally later this month at the U.S. Capitol that is designed to demand “justice” for the hundreds of people who have been charged in connection with January’s insurrection, according to three people familiar with intelligence gathered by federal officials.
As a result, U.S. Capitol Police have been discussing in recent weeks whether the large perimeter fence that was erected outside the Capitol after January’s riot will need to be put back up, the people said.
The officials have been discussing security plans that involve reconstructing the fence as well as another plan that does not involve a fence, the people said. They were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
The planned Sept. 18 rally at the Capitol comes as a jittery Washington has seen a series of troubling one-off incidents — including, most recently, a man who parked a pickup truck near the Library of Congress and said he had a bomb and detonator. Among the most concerning events: A series of unexploded pipe bombs placed around the U.S. Capitol ahead of the Jan. 6 insurrection remain unexplained and no suspect has been charged.
