When Georgetown is fully back in a couple years, we will look back at this moment and Riley’s commitment as the catalyst for our revival. Very exciting news. Ryan needs a year behind Qudus and then he’ll be ready to dominate the position.

SAXA IS BACK!!! How will we make space for Aminu though? Thought we didn’t have a spot. I'm like others and think there is a huge chance Wahab have a kind of year that he may declare but the schollie situation always works itself out.

The year is 2020 and Coach Patrick Ewing has just gotten a commitment from a Mutombo.

I'm excited to see what mark Ryan makes for himself. We've been lucky enough to have several legacies that can ball follow their dad's paths to Georgetown. This makes me feel happy about the current climate of the program and what it says about how the dads must have felt and still feel about their alma mater. That said, I know Ryan shares a last name with a Hoya great. I feel like our fanbase is pretty good at differentiating and cheering for the next gens on their own merits and successes. I'm very much looking forward to doing that with Ryan as I did with Trey and Pat. Welcome home, Ryan! Hoya Saxa!

Great work by the staff. One we had to get for many reasons and we did. Now it is up to both the staff and Ryan to work and get his potential realized.
Super psyched to hear Ryan explicitly name Aminu as the one classmate he'll work to recruit. Close on that one and there will finally be room for some serious optimism moving forward.

If Aminu signs with Georgetown the incoming class would be as close to a “FAB 5” as we have ever come. PG Riley G Beard SF Aminu PF Billingsley C Mutombo.
They wouldn’t all start a la Michigan’s Fab 5 but it would be GREAT to have such a well-rounded class.

Maybe it's just me but I just don't see the need for 4 centers on the roster for next year. Does Wilson stay?

Maybe it's just me but I just don't see the need for 4 centers on the roster for next year. Does Wilson stay? Don't try talking to people on this site about that. Ryan is after all the most important recruit of the Ewing era who is bound to leap ahead of even Ighoefe as soon as he steps on campus. Wilson and Ighoefe become disposable pieces because, you know, they ain't Top 100 material. And btw its not so much as having four centers that worries me, its having four guys who have yet to prove they are the types that can spread the floor which means it may be difficult playing two of them at the same time. Although I did come across this... Simmonds is a highly regarded trainer in the DMV area who has some of the best takes about basketball on twitter. Supposedly he is also the person Wahab works with during the offseason. Not sure if he would drop a tweet like that unless he thought such a thing was possible. He knows how the basketball game is played now after all, although admittedly he is more of a proponent for big men playing BIG in the paint. Could he be indicating that Wahab now has a midrange jumpshot or something? Btw there is an "interesting" exchange between him and Aminu's guardian in the thread of this tweet. Anyway point is unless one or more of the bigs develop such a capability to face up and shoot, Ewing can only play one at a time. Pickett a couple of weeks back also suggested a BIG lineup with him, Wahab and Ighoefe as the frontline. Maybe some development to keep an eye on.

Everyone has a right to be as excited as they want to be despite those of us who may attempt to snatch their joy. But the "Fab 5" term is one that is thrown around too much by ALL college bball fans IMO. I think this class as it stands right now is very good because I feel these recruits are underrated. I think if they add Aminu it becomes a great class. But I still would have difficulty referring to it as a Fab 5.

Or perhaps if need be Carey plays his second year of remaining eligibility at a different college. Since he is a grad student he is allowed to do this I believe. I would have thrown out the suggestion of Mutombo having his first season be one in which he isn't on a scholarship but I don't want DFW and others swooping in to correct me.
