Soon we can change course from "It is a black mark on our recruiting if we can't even bring in a legacy recruit" to "it is a black mark on our recruiting that we use a scholarship on a kid just because he is a legacy when there are plenty of better recruits out there we should be prioritizing".

Rick Barnes and his staff also seem to have gained some traction with Ryan Mutombo, and may have even opened up a little bit of a lead. They are recruiting at a high level and are well respected in the Atlanta area. Obviously, Georgetown, the alma mater of his father Dikembe Mutombo, is going to be right there, but the sense is that perhaps Ryan might like to create his own path out of the shadow of his father. The other school that stands out to me right now as one to keep an eye on is Stanford. The academics and great class the Cardinal are putting together could be draws. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-s-mailbag-vols-committable-offers-moreI guess the good thing is we don't have to worry about any Will Wade/Shawn Miller/Calipari $$$ shenanigans so we're on a fair playing field with this recruitment. |

I think all will welcome Ryan with open arms...I think its more a matter of relief than lack of excitement due to the length of
the recruitment, etc...is there a time of his announcement?

Like every one else this year, both vis a vis the Hoyas and vis a vis life in general, I feel like Mrs. Lincoln being asked how the play was. Let's hope Ryan climbs aboard what I believe to be a program about to swing up. With him, we return to a roster trending positively and then we just have to hope Pat can turn those studs into winners. #champs #123fireballs |

Glad to see this coming to an end. Hope he becomes a Hoya.
Taking your own path vs. Making the family happy.
Never an easy choice. But I'm hopeful that he can create his own legacy as a Hoya if he commits to us.
