Tweet from yesterday. If it’s a done deal to Tennessee, why would he drag this out until Spring? I see Qudus as the main guy that year. Mutombo would come off the bench if he cannot play as a 4.

Coach do everything you can to land Baldwin and or Mohammed, if either or both are interested and if they wish to commit this year. We will worry about Mutombo in the spring.

Coach Ewing and the staff are big-game hunting right now. One spot left in 2021 (absent decommit/transfer), so we're using that to try to land a program-changing recruit. With Riley and Beard in the fold we are already off to a good start in 2021, and while Ryan would have been great we're on the proper trajectory back to relevance which is all you could've asked for from this 2021 class after the year we had.

If we have a season this year, Q won't be here next year....but I still don't think Ryan would be "The Man".... that would be Mr. Sibley. Unless he is referring to bigs exclusively.

He likely wouldn't even be "the man" of his freshman class of recruits. When I saw those quotes yesterday I was wondering who was selling him on that scenario. Great to have confidence but that is a bit of disrespect of guys who will be returning to the team, even if Q isn't one of them. Maybe Ryan is going off of recruit rankings although he himself isn't even a consensus top 100 guy. And I still stand by he wouldn't be as good as a junior Ighoefe.

Is this Mutombo, actually Mutombo's son? I thought there was one Mutombo son that was adopted?

I won’t fault Coach one bit if he fills it with someone else. Mutombo has an offer, has had one for a long time, can pop any time during a time in which many of his peers already has popped, but for whatever reason hasn’t. I want guys that want to be here. No offense to the kid, but his lack of a commitment at this point shows something...

We need to concentrate on recruiting scholar/athletes who want to come to Georgetown and play for this coaching staff. If this coaching staff cannot successfully recruit those student/athletes, maybe there's a big problem with the staff. And in either case, it's apparent that HoyaTalk is far more enamored with the idea of a legacy recruit (i.e., Ryan Mutombo) playing at "Big Man U" than that student/athlete is enamored with the idea of playing here; that being the case, I think I'll go get the student/athlete who really wants to be here instead of going to a school that (a) is not the academic equal of Georgetown, and (b) has no history of sustained success in the NCAA.

Putting aside visibility and attendance averages, Georgetown does itself a disservice by selling any recruit, much less Mutombo, that it was a really big deal when their parents were his age. At some point it's got to start selling the future, but when? FWIW, in the last six years, Tennessee has gone to the NCAA's in 2014 (24-13, Sweet 16), 2018 (26-9, 2nd round), and 2019 (31-5, Sweet 16). It's a very competitive SEC program.

Let's not become personally offended because a high school kid is uncertain exactly what he wants to do, and is taking his time to consider all of his options. Baldwin hasn't decided, Mohammed hasn't decided. We don't excoriate them because they have not jumped at the Hoya offer yet. If Ryan ends up a Hoya, welcome to him. If not, have a good career (unless he plays against the Hoyas of course).

If Ryan wanted to be at Georgetown, we would know by now. He has moved on. So should we.

I would find it hard to believe he adopted a kid that looks that much like him and also grew to close to 7'....lol

Yeah I'm not as high on Timmy but I'm really high on Malcolm's potential to be better than Fr Ryan...

I think in his heart he wants to be a Hoya but I think in his head that he wants to go somewhere different I think he wants to be somewhere else in both his heart and his head but his love and respect for his father is causing the delay.... I believe if his father was a 5ft former soccer player Ryan would be a Vol now....

IMO, he needs at least two more years, but I hope you're right because that will mean that Qudus was one of the best BE players as a soph and we went far in the NCAAT.

1) I don’t think Wahab can go pro after this season either but love the optimism.
2) With Dikembe & Patrick being friends there could be a level of honesty we aren’t privy to. I believe Igouefe will be a player & Malcolm could be tearing it up and ready to make an impact. Maybe freshman minutes has been discussed?
3) A five star wing would benefit the program much more than Ryan Mutombo IMO.

We need that much more than we need another back to the basket center.
