Maybe this has already been posted, but I saw Mac in a commercial during the national semifinals. I wasn't really paying attention to it so I don't even remember what product it was for, but I caught him out of the corner of my eye and looked up and said to myself, hey, that's Mac. Great for him.

What is a partially guaranteed deal? Is it like partially pregnant? Or is it part of the money is guaranteed?

What is a partially guaranteed deal? Is it like partially pregnant? Or is it part of the money is guaranteed? Generally, or as least as I understand it, a partially guaranteed deal provides a salary through training camp and the club retains his rights to be traded before the season versus simply getting cut as a free agent. If he is signed by the end of camp, he gets the salary offered in this deal. If he is sent to the G League, the partial guarantee is a premium to what they can offer as salary there. If he is not retained, he still gets the guaranteed contracted amount through training camp.

What is a partially guaranteed deal? Is it like partially pregnant? Or is it part of the money is guaranteed? It's a 1 year deal for the minimum which based on Mac's experience (2 years) is slightly over 2 million. The partial guarantee is whatever amount they agreed upon that he'll be given if and when he's waived. My guess, probably around 100K. He will eventually be waived because the Magic already have the maximum 15 players on guaranteed contracts, unless they choose to eat one of those contracts to free a spot for Mac or someone else, which is highly unlikely. Ultimately he's really competing for a 2 way contract in training camp. This year teams now have 3 instead of 2... the Magic currently have one available and just signed Mac and 2 other guys to compete for it in training camp. It's basically the same contract he did last year with Golden State/Philly and the year before with the Lakers except this time he gets some guaranteed money even if he's waived.

Disappointing. Sounds like Philadelphia gave up on him. He can’t catch a break in terms of making the NBA as a roster player.

It's strange to me. I know he is smallish and not a natural point guard, but he provides a lot of energy and has really improved his 3pt shot. I would view him as a good sparkplug guy you would give 5 to 8 minutes a game to. But maybe they think he can't handle the taller guards.
