Unless by some unforeseeable quirk we get an NIT invite (would think there is no chance), you need to gobble up frequent flyer, rental car and hotel points over the next few weeks to visit and see the guys we need to bolster our ranks over the next 2 classes.

We have a ways to go.
3-4 years minimum.
All the other teams are recruiting too.
We need some game changer type players for the 2019-2020 once Marcus and Govan are gone.

My one concern with Patrick is spending significant time with highly rated recruits who like the prestige of having Patrick Ewing in their school, in their house, and in their pictures - but have at best a minor interest in Georgetown. May be hard to accurately identify those situations, especially for a novice recruiter.

Better to have a coach with buzz than to have one that’s not recognized anywhere.

May be hard to accurately identify those situations, especially for a novice recruiter. That is recruiting. Jay Wright, Calapari, Coach K, they all go through the same thing. Committed Football players do the same thing with Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, etc. coming to their school and house. Committed kids going on recruiting trips to power 5 schools knowing they aren't going to the school. It is nice a mini vacation. Sometimes they do flip. The 1st step with recruiting is to get in the door, have the kids ear, or those around him. Ewing at least has that going for him. Oddly enough, the funny Ewing memes and twitter gifs also help for his (and the program's) exposure. Ewing's credentials are at least going to get us to step one with some of these recruits, since are past 3 seasons are not going to help much. It is like a domino effect. All it takes is one. One kid, after the initial meet, to like what Ewing is saying and getting to know Georgetown.

Agree the_way. I think the domino analogy extends further too. We have a bit of recruiting inertia for the very high level recruits....say Top 100 or Top 50. Once the dominos start to fall, I think we will get some momentum which will make every subsequent commit easier.
I was hoping Isaiah Stewart was going to establish that momentum for Ewing giving his fandom but increasingly that doesn’t look like it is happening. Some kid is going to connect with Ewing’s approach and message and start the domino’s falling. Maybe it will be the Mac/Bacot connection.

Better to have a coach with buzz than to have one that’s not recognized anywhere. Also a program can't get the elite recruits if the head coach doesn't at least attempt a go at them.

All true - but we have had problems in the past when it seemed we were spending too much of our time and resources on guys who probably were not seriously considering us and not having a hood bsck-up plan in place. We do seem to be casting a wide net right now, which is the right approach.

Khalil Whitney (6'6 G/F '19) plays for RC also and seems to be a priority for the staff as well.. His dad played for Orr and he's been up there to watch him at least 4-5 times.

Where in the world is Coach Ewing? Where will he turn up next???
If I was a betting man, I predict he will be back in Cali early this upcoming week to see Devonaire play on Tuesday. May see a couple other prospects in Cali on Monday if schedule permits.
No inside info...just a hunch!
