If Shamorie Ponds is still hampered by the abdominal strain that forced him to miss the Butler game, St. John's will not be favored. And the game will not be close.

At least we have shown the ability to compete right up to the last minute (and beyond!) against every team in the conference except (at least so far) Villanova. A Herculean task, but the players and staff will know they can win each game.

Are you suggesting we would blow out SJU in the Garden? I admire your moxie. But, yeah, I didn't realize Ponds was that hurt. Iowa won the 12/13 game and now they are tied with Michigan in OT. That's why I think it's fun to root for an unpredictable run for us.

I can't believe people are trying to figure out the best match-ups for a team that's sitting on 5 conference wins on March 1. There are no good matchups for us. We'll be back on the bus to DC no later than Thursday afternoon. If not, I'll eat my hat* [*Disclaimer: I will not be eating any hats]I don't know about you, but as a fan of a team, I will root for them until the season ends. And whatever I think gives us the best chance to prolong our season is what I will look forward to.

I'm just hoping to make it to Thursday. I don't care if we play Golden State after that. Would love to get some entertainment out of March, no matter how fleeting.

Give me two games in New York, and I'll be happy. For what it's worth, if Xavier is the 1 seed, I do think that could favor us for a pretty tight quarterfinal game. Not sure we could beat them, but we have played them close twice. I think Villanova is a much tougher matchup. But yeah, I just will pull for a run. Hard to be that upbeat with how we have played the last couple weeks, but I'll be there until the end.

Georgetown will be playing St. John's on Wednesday. Winner is to play Xavier.

Love our draw...we could get to the Big East Final. If, and it's a big if, the Hoyas can get past St. John's, this team can beat Xavier a la #8 Georgetown upsetting #1 Syracuse in 2000. That wasn't a great Georgetown team either (Braswell, Perry, Burton, Scruggs, Watkins) but the seeding was favorable. Had we lined up with Villanova, no chance.

Unfortunately, based upon current play and the recent play of both teams, I do not see this team playing past Wednesday.

You know it's been a rough year when the only team you've swept in conference - one that tied for last place - is a big favorite to win your 3rd matchup.

It's the BET, Hoyas are undefeated in the tournament so far, have beaten the Redmen before, and have played Xavier close. Time to relax, have some fun and upset a few teams. GO HOYAS!!!

(KenPom) Like others pointed out, though, Ponds is injured. He hasnt played the last 2 games. Even if he does play, an injury that knocks you out two straight games is probably serious enough to affect him.

Coach Ewing has never lost a Big East Tourney game. Fact.
