@glide. This whole roster is on the shoulders of JTIII. Except if he stayed we prolly lose Derrickson and Govan to transfer and we have maybe 100 fans in the building. Damn I am heated at tonight's showing. I vastly underappreciated the Jason Clarks, Markel Starks, Jessie Sapps, and Jabril Trawicks of the past. Mulmore and Dickerson are a literal disgrace to the history of the program when they pull on the uniform that is how bad they are at basketball. Dickerson is not a JT3 recruit.. Neither was Sodom. lol

This was just an ugly, ugly night. It was an embarrassing loss because of how quickly we were taken out of the game. I'll admit that, even with our limitations, I would like to see a more competitive game against better competition for longer. As the season goes on, we start to make many of the same mistakes when our opponents get ahead. We run too fast and turn it over and then settle for bad shots instead of pushing it inside. That said, we are clearly nowhere close to Villanova in terms of capability at this point. We weren't going to win that game. Even so, I would like to see more toughness and pride going forward even if a game has gotten out of hand. I don't want to make any bold pronouncements about this team, this coach, or any of our prior coaches from this game. It was a terrible night and a sign of how much work we have to do. I hope Ewing can turn this ship around. Keep hope alive...

Our goal needs to be four guards; two elite point guards next season. We need two more along with Mac. Is Mac even a PG? And is he ready to contribute early to keep up with the likes of Nova, Creighton, Marquette, Xavier, etc.? Or is he more like Pickett? Elite guards are nice, but I'd take 4 mid-major guards right now. They know how to shoot and dribble without turning the ball over.

In these 30 plus doors blown off losses there is enough blame to go around between JTIII and Ewing. As does this team have a lot of talent, no. Should this team be getting beaten by 30 plus points; 2x at home during the 1st part of the BE schedule, no. Why not? Just because? You say why not? I say why should they? Nova does not have another 30plus victory since St. Joseph on Dec 2 Creighton does not have another 20 plus victory since South Carolina Upstate Dec. 20 I assume that these losses do not bother you and or you predicted that the Hoyas would get the doors blown off at home vs Nova & Creighton?

If we lost in the same manner vs St. John's or DePaul, then I would be a little concerned.

I didn't see JT3 on the bench lol...the guilt is real in here. I really think JT3 is making some of these people look bad lol.

It finally took you seeing Villanova to see this? Well, better late than never. I agree... Go Hoyas! And it took Wright 5 seasons to get just that team depth after he got to Villanova and he was known as being a good guard coach coming in, where guard wanted to go and make their game better. Bringing having 2 elite point guards coming in at the same time is something that takes some serious voodoo talking as elite kids want to own the minutes and know it is their team. Having a junior elite PG and a frosh elite willing to wait and learn is a possibility, but that coming in the same year is insanely rare at the best programs.

Wright and Starks put up big numbers in high school but we're not true point guards, DSR did for Oak Hill as well. We need at least two true point guards and another guard, and of course wings and a couple of bigs. This will take some time. Our fans don't have lots of patience from what I've observed over the years.

Dickerson is not a JT3 recruit.. And Dickerson is a one year fill in the bench player. He wasn't seen as as a Pryor who could start and help lead the team. He was a late fill-in. Not exactly someone long recruited. It is amazing how often Patrick is in local high school gyms watching players in games and chatting. I don't know the last time a Gtown head coach has been out watching and talking in the local community as much as Patrick has been. I would see Ronnie Thompson quite a bit, but his kid was playing, but never JTIII. But the OP's rant was about JT3 leaving the cupboard bare, in the post he mentioned Dickerson which could be taken to mean JT3 recruited him.. I just wanted to set the record straight.. Btw, how well has Dickerson filled in this year?

I wish Jt3 nothing but the best, and remember many good days/years with him at the helm, but this roster is a snapshot of how far the program had fallen under his watch. Ewing has brought a fire as a coach on the sideline, a work ethic thus far on the recruiting trail, an accountability culture, a faster paced offense, and a willingness to press defensively. All things many followers of this program have been clamoring for. Jt3 left this roster without a D1 guard, and it shows out in spades against teams like Creighton and Nova, et al. There will be better days ahead I hope, but tonight and this season being attributed to Ewing or his staff would be a fallacy.

I know this isn't the right place. But my goodness the entirety of the $hitshow we see on the court right now falls squarely on JTIII. What did this man see in the players he recruited? How he single-handedly managed to take the program from where it was (top 10 for 7 straight years) to this is utterly baffling.. We are looking at a 3-4 year rebuild because Reid was too much of a DELETED to fire him about 5 years ago. It's fine to express one's opinions here, but dial back the profane name calling as it violates board rules and if you're going to call the AD that you should at least try to spell his name right. Firing and hiring the basketball coach was not his call anyway so aim you sights elsewhere.

There are nights that plus/minus is meaningless. This is one of those nights.
Nevertheless, plus/minus for tonight's game, as calculated from the play-by-play posted on the Gametracker app at guhoyas.com:
Hines +9, Muresan +9, Dickerson -3, Walker -6, Mulmore -11, Blair -13, Pickett -16, Mosely -25, Govan -27, Derrickson -37, Johnson -40.

JT3 went and got Waters, so what's your point?
