On Mosely only 2 turnovers in the second half and the last one he made up for right away with the steal and layup. Just saying.

I was, and am still, as much of a skeptic as anyone that this team could do any reasonable damage this year. That being said, according to RPI Wizard, if you reversed the outcomes of the Cuse game (up 13 with 10 min to go) and Butler (up 20 in the 2nd half), this team would be sitting at 14-2 (3-2) with an RPI of 88. How many of us would have signed up for that right now? That's the distance between being in striking distance of the bubble conversation and having no prayer of making the NIT. I'm fairly certain we'll be in the NIT conversation if we finish above .500. While it's far from a sure thing, 6-12 in conference would put us at 16-13 going into the BET. 17 wins probably gets us into the NIT. If not, we should definitely accept a bid to one of those other tournaments, to continue to build toward next year. My favorite data point. 2015-2016 Marquette: 20-13, 8-10 in Big East, RPI 110, SOS 127, Non-Conf SOS 330. No NIT bid. I don't know if they were in the conversation, but we won't be at 6-12.

Who cares about this ish. The Hoyas fought hard and didn't give and then won DELETED - NO PROFANITY. Who cares? Where did this come from? I enjoy reading SF's recaps, usually helps me see the game from different perspectives and pick up on things I missed. Should this board be nothing more than a cheerleading forum when the Hoyas win? What is the point of that, why would I want to read the same congratulatory, thoughtless BS over and over? I think the moderator was deleting changes inserted by Glide. There was no issue with SFHoyas' initial post (which was everything you want to see).

There's something to be said for when a team can win even when they're having an off night. Commentators start talking about being gritty and persevering through adversity... but that's not what happened last night. Not the end of the world - program and coach will be judged on whether or not those dumpster fires become the exception to the rule.

The reason I'm not impressed with Mullin (or Laito for that matter) is their obvious failure to capitalize on our weakness, i.e. ball handling leading to turnovers. If either coach had watched films of the Syracuse and Butler games they would have pressed the heck out of us the last 6-7 minutes of each game. That they didn't tells me they didn't do their homework and didn't have their team prepared for us. You don't need great players to press and, in fact, if you lack talented players, pressing at the right times is a good option. Notice how Beoheim and the Butler coach quickly picked up on our ball handling problems. I agree it is hard to evaluate coaches on win/loss records during their first 2-3 years but watching in game adjustments (or lack thereof) is a good way to judge coaching talent.

Loved Raftery's call on Jessie's 3-pointer in the last minute -- he obviously didn't think it was a quality shot ("My goodness"). Nice win but it was maddening to watch the guards consistently dribble into traffic with their heads down and either throw up a prayer or lose the ball.

You should read the St. John's message boards. smh

The commentators were right on point the Hoyas were gritty, persevering through adversity. This is somewhat of a quote from JT Jr. Yes, this is what happened vs. St. John's they Hoyas won. Was it ugly. Yeah, but that's the Big East. No games are pretty lol. IMO. Hoya Saxa!
