He gong to Kentucky. Cal is that dude. Can't hate khalil for choosing the big blue nation. Cal has nba scouts coming in to practices on a weekly basis. Exposure at its best when I go to Kentucky.

Every high major program has scouts coming to their practices nowadays. Car salesman Cal just markets it more than anyone else. What else can he sell to prospects. You never here him talk about player development because he can't truly sell that. All he can sell is the NBA dream to players who are going to get there regardless of where they go. No one talks about this but more than half of Kentucky drafted players are underwhelming in the Association and struggle mightily to stay in the league after their rookie contract expires.

Khalil Whitney has been one of the top breakout performers of the 2018 travel season and his recruitment hit the highest level last week with Kentucky extending an offer. Illinois, Louisville and many others are a factor in his recruitment but a commitment to Kentucky seems likeliest at this point. Whitney will officially visit UK on Aug. 3 and it wouldn’t be a giant surprise if he left Lexington a committed man. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-s-leftovers-more-twitter-mailbag-on-pitt-louisville-more

Probably no one has benefited more from summer basketball exposure this yr than Whitney.

Probably no one has benefited more from summer basketball exposure than Whitney. I was at the abcd all-American camp where in 4 days, Tracy McGrady went from unranked/unknown player to #1 player in his class. It was incredible to watch.

There may be better long-term prospects in the 2019 class and even that is up for debate but, whatever the case, there might not be a bigger ‘dog’ in high school ball than Kahlil Whitney. He has been one of the better breakout performers of the travel season as he began things as a solid four-star prospect hovering around the middle of the Rivals150. Over the past four months, Whitney has put it all together, creating a cornucopia of athleticism, ferocity, toughness, ball skills and an evolving perimeter jumper. Add it all up and what you have is one of the best two-way wing prospects in America. While Whitney is a more than strong producer on the playing floor, it is his hard-nosed mentality, grit, and alpha-dog mindset that really sets him apart. He is headed to Kentucky on August 3 for an official visit and there is a thought that his recruitment could end before he returns to his native Chicago. Illinois and Louisville are heavily in contention but wherever he might land, someone is going to pick up a day one leader in the locker room that will not be afraid of the biggest of platforms. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/las-vegas-sunday-whitney-shows-strengths-midwest-prospects-emege

I personally think the DJ Jeffries news about his decommitment shows that Kahlil is going to Kentucky. Everything I've seen shows that this is the case. Hope that I'm wrong though.

Yep I agree. Jeffries will probably go to Memphis now. AAU teammate and #1 player in the country James Wiseman will probably follow as well.

Well...let's see what happens with this UK visit. If that does not end with a commitment, maybe there is a chance.

Well...let's see what happens with this UK visit. If that does not end with a commitment, maybe there is a chance. I am excited that we made the final 8, simply for the fact that you would think he intends to visit at least a few of the schools on the list and is not going into the Kentucky visit planning on making a commitment. If that was his mindset, then why come out with a list at all? Things can change and maybe he will commit this weekend, he is a teenage kid after all, but it sounds like the other schools on the list will have a shot at him even though Kentucky is probably the favorite at this point.

Eh, I'm sure UK will give all the attention to Whitney, since they've already lost one of their 2019 commits.

Georgetown: “I talk to Patrick Ewing almost every day and he says I get their style of play. He also thinks I can get to the next level if I were to go to Georgetown.”
Kentucky: “Kentucky is Kentucky. They are a one and done factory, Coach Calipari gets some of the best guys and he does his best with them. He gets them ready for the NBA. He pushes his kids to reach their dreams. They have a great program and great history. Coach Calipari is a great coach and he has produced a lot of pros.”

So, 1) he has a good relationship with Ewing, and 2) at least publicly, he says that he plans to go on other visits. Good news.

So, 1) he has a good relationship with Ewing, and 2) at least publicly, he says that he plans to go on other visits. Good news. This is really good news. For a while it seemed lie the program was depending on the relationship between Coach Orr and his Dad to tip the scales but from that quote it sounds like Coach Ewing is fully engaged now. In order to get a recruit like this, that has really blown up nationally over the last few months, the head coach needs to be really involved because you know that is what the other programs are doing. Hopefully the combination of Orr and Ewing can be what makes the difference.
