Nerlens Noel is among those listed in the document as being connected to ASM Sports. Some might remember that, during Noel's recruitment, there were constant rumors about shady business going down with his handlers. One of the handlers, Randolph, had listed ASM Sports on his LinkedIn page. I hadn't paid attention to Noel's career but color me not surprised that he signed with ASM after college. Doesn't take a genius to figure out how he ended up at UK. Lends credence to Franschilla hearing here was coming here for the week up until haircut day.

I also tend to read this news as more of an indictment of the system than anything else. I would prefer a system in which players can get compensated by the university and market their individual likenesses but see the NCAA take more steps to keep these "agents" away from them in college. Kids are flocking to these folks, and I think that's often bad for their long term future. College athletics has changed. It's not 1950 anymore. Billions of dollars are at stake every season. The kids who contribute so much, including those who sustain injuries that can derail their careers, deserve better than the current system. Yes, the system is definitely broken and there is no solution that takes us back to the so-called good old days--whenever that was. Coaches cheat, players cheat and the NCAA has very little incentive to control the abuse if it occurs at one of the elite programs--at least until the abuse becomes so outrageous that it cannot be ignored any longer.

ESPN is reporting that Arizona head coach Sean Miller is on tape, directing that all discussions of money should be done through him. Not a good look. es.pn/2ChetU0

An article was posted to ESPN.com about 15 minutes ago suggesting that there are FBI wiretaps that show Arizona coach Sean Miller discussing a $100,000 payment to secure recruit DeAndre Ayton.

Well there may not be any easy long term solutions to this mess but there are some very simple and easy first steps that can be taken by the NCAA, the conferences and the college Presidents. Now let's see who has the courage to enrage the fans of these mega-powers.

FYI I brought the original thread over from the Pro & College Forum and combined with this one, given the news drops from yesterday.

Does it make sense reading these allegations to think maybe having essentially one agent in Falk is a good thing to avoid some of this nonsense? I think I'm more shocked how much money these agencies are paying and then not actually getting the player to sign.

Falk is a complete non-issue given the level of talent we have and are pulling currently.

But we’re getting pay off now.

Now let's see who has the courage to enrage the fans of these mega-powers. Not sure there are some very easy quick short term answers that will begin to address the problem. But at least identify what the real problem is. The problem is it will end up costing many schools and coaches some serious money. The growth of shoe companies impact upon the college game across all sports and never mind its tentacles into AAU has only almost legalized the bag men, the cars, the fake and family jobs that were the currency 30 plus years ago. How do you deal with a system where shoe companies put out a $1.5 mil to $5.0 to schools to support and market brands. Never mind providing either directly or indirectly the major portion of a coaching staffs compensation. I'm not naive enough to think that you can or would even want eliminate the shoe companies or clothing companies from the game. but something that has created Nike schools or a Reebok camp or the money supporting specific AAU programs etc. etc. needs to be looked at. The NCAA at every level knew what was going on and as usual put their collective heads in the sand knowing it was only a matter of time before a scandal like this would breakout. It was a lot simpler when Hawkeye Whitney was running around Raleigh in a convertible I don't even think that Sonny Vaccaro the grandfather of it all envisioned that this is were we would be 40 odd years later.
