As a current Colorado resident, that would be a heartbreaking realization. I've long wondered about the draw of some of those midwestern schools...at least Kansas and UK had a long storied history.

It's true. I remember being in Louisville a number of years ago, passing by the stadium and commenting about what a dumpy site it was. On the other hand, there's also Churchill Downs.

I was there recently, and even in the downtown area, it is a strange place indeed.

So you are saying that if the evidence is made public before Selection Sunday we could make the NCAA's?!

If Tennessee Chattanooga is going to be a three-seed, as postulated by Pete Thamel in the article. . .we're gonna be a one!
Also, liked the homage to Dikembe Mutombo!

Will there be 68 teams available for the NCAA Tournament? Absolutely. No team would conceivably lose everyone, and even if you take five players off any reprobate team, there's enough talent off the bench that they can hold their own. Lest we forget, Georgetown once lost to a St. John's team playing with five scholarship players. nypost.com/2004/02/19/red-storm-puts-one-in-win-column/

Raise your hand if you think anything happens before the tournament? Regardless, if it's as widespread as alleged, I'm guessing the defense will be that everyone was doing it and that, even though the top programs benefited, the NCAA can't hammer the programs because it only ends up hurting the kids. As such, I envision a relative slap on the wrist to preserve the NCAA money stream as best as possible.
I didn't see any indication that anything would actually be made public anyway other than general speculation. If that's the case, since it would be in the best financial interests of premier programs and the NCAA, I wouldn't be shocked if the schools were allowed to get their own houses in order with minimal damage other than some firings and self-imposed penalties. Wouldn't that be most consistent with what we've seen in the past? Commentators openly mock NCAA penalties during the tournament every year when it comes to guys like Boeheim and Calipari. They include the vacated wins and follow it by saying that they were vacated. They don't speak of them as cheaters. They speak of them as if they are great yet they are, somehow, victims of outside forces like the NCAA or not being aware that their kids took money or didn't take their SATs. It's been a joke for decades. Not a funny one but a long-running one, nonetheless. It was a "scandal" that UNC didn't require actual classes until it wasn't and it didn't tarnish the way in which they're portrayed by ESPN in the least. If anything, they play up the Roy Williams good guy, folksy BS more than ever.

Thamel's article doesn't really say that much "factually." And nothing new, aside from the glib supposition of the cop/prosecutor/paralegal/secretary re UT Chattanooga's potential seeding. So this story just stirs the pot during a quiet time in the sports news year.
I just hope we get through unscathed. And if a bunch of programs we regularly play get hammered, well think of the price paid by JT3 to do things the right way. But any disruption from this scandal will likely inure to Coach Ewing's benefit on the recruiting trail on an immediate basis - flattening out the present pyramid (with very few schools at the top) and getting the talent, some of the talent, to us.

If this happens in a timely manner I would imagine a lot of recruits may look to remove their LOIs.
