Does the one year ban start now or if there is a season? Reduction of three scholarships? Where are they at for this upcoming season? I wonder if this will affect Moncrieffe.

Not sure if this makes it better or worse. Kansas choosing to go this route makes it seem like they think it will be less punishment than OK St. got.

Zion got paid 400K to go to Duke. Geez. If thats the going rate we will never get a 5 star.

Very true, but the real question is if Duke knew about it. Even if the document is inadmissible, it's apparently signed by Zion before he attended Duke. Duke should have to provide at least perfunctory answers... It's also interesting how Marvin Bagley's family's fortune immediately improved when Nike and Duke and Sierra Canyon got involved. I won't hold my breath for even a phone call to be made let alone an investigation to be opened. As Elvado often notes, we are still waiting for the NCAA to conclude its investigation of Corey Maggette, who's mother allegedly was provided a job by a Duke booster. Maggette finished playing at Duke 20+ years ago....

Look, I hate Duke as much as/more than the next guy. I have watched CJ McCollum dominate them, Kenny Goins hit that big shot AND the end of that Mercer game about 100 times. Nathan Bain and Brandon Childress are some of my favorite more recent CBB players. Why? because they made huge plays in games where they beat Duke. But, I mean these pieces of evidence in the tweet listed below (not sure we are talking about the same thing, but my point stands) are ridiculous. His name is not "Zion Williamston" and that's not how South Carolina lists people on their driver's license. And the 5,3, and 2 on his driver's license zip code are clearly photoshopped. Numbers don't just change size, shade, height, and potentially font. Same with the four on his listed weight. Look, if this could get Duke punished, I wouldn't complain at all. I hate that fake attitude from Duke fans that feel that they are superior to everyone because they "do it the right way" when we know they don't. Corey Maggette. Is it a coincidence that Zion went from a lean with Duke as the sixth option, to the team that landed him immediately and he was in a much better living situation? I don't think so. But, this case is... well not great. Also, Jay Huff had ten blocks, nine boards, and 15 points while dominating Vernon Carey in a win over the Blue Devils.

This is how you conceal doing something. It would never be direct. The article says how his family had 3 luxury cars, and was renting a 950K house in North Carolina while he was at Duke. The Agent seems to know a lot of how the money they loaned was used. I am sure they might have multiple agreements with other players like this. Its a way for the school to be removed from the situation.

To add on to this: Niki Haley was not the SC governor in 2018 when this was supposedly issued. Underage SC licenses are vertical not horizontal. Height and weight are switched, that would be fixed by the DMV. Lots of speciousness in this report.

Where there's a Will there's a Wade. White Privilege Will Wade. When are you going to get rid of him, NCAA? Free Kevin Ollie!

Kevin Ollie can't coach because he got Ray Allen to talk to some potential recruits among a few other issues. Yes Ollie broke the rules but compared to Will Wade who gets caught discussing/bragging about his payoffs then tells the L$U and the NCAA to kick rocks while he continues to cheat and collect millions, Ollie's indiscretions are minor....smh

White coaches can break all the recruiting rules over and over again and get away with it. It's not an equal playing field.

If you are an African American coach in the NCAA you have to run a clean program or they will get you. White coaches can break all the recruiting rules over and over again and get away with it. It's not an equal playing field. This is less about black and white and far more about schools that are experienced in gumming up the wheels of NCAA justice. SEC schools know how to run out the clock on these issues and the expectation is settlement will always be less than the crime. If Kevin Ollie was winning at LSU like Will Wade was, no problem...and that's the key here, not "white privilege". When you're winning, schools in the SEC will go to bat for a coach. If you don't win, you aren't working there for long. Ask Joe Moorhead. The former Georgetown assistant signed a four year contract plus a two year extension to be head football coach at Mississippi State in 2018. Two seasons later, 14-12...gone, fired. Before him, Sylvester Croom was SEC Coach of the Year in 2007, 4-8 in 2008, fired. Ask Tubby Smith. He won at Kentucky and got 10 years there. Next up, Billy Gillispie, who lost home openers in consecutive seasons to Gardner-Webb and VMI...gone. White or black, if Will Wade was 40-54 at this point this wouldn't be an issue because Wade would be coaching at Tarleton State or somesuch job. (FWIW, that's where Gillispie is right now.)

Ollie won a National Championship. Will Wade hasn't done squat. Ollie was perceived as winning with Calhoun's recruits. His record outside 2013-14 was 95-71 (.572), one NCAA appearance. His final two seasons were 16-17 and 14-18. His conference finishes: 2013: 7th (BE) 2015: 5th (AAC) 2016: 6th 2017: 6th 2018: 8th Wade is 46-15 in his last two seasons, a 1st and a 2nd in the SEC race. That's what LSU cares about.
