Buchanan is coming off an OV to Virginia Tech, would be surprised if he doesn't commit to the Hokies.

i hope they can get Darren to come to the Hilltop & be part of putting Georgetown on top again! Darren -- come be part of something great! Unfortunately it looks like VTech. Of course I have no inside knowledge but only 247 prediction is for VTech and all but one Rivals contributor is predicting VTech. 3 of those in the last couple of days. Agree would like him but does feel like he would overlap with what we are bringing in w/D'ante Bass.

We probably don't/can't take another 3 star recruit to develop in three years. Maybe he is the true "diamond in the rough" but right now, we have a starting roster of "diamond in the roughs" and it ain't working. We need grad transfers, transfers and can't miss freshman recruits. Right now we have one guy in Anglin who seems like a can't miss. We need to fill in around him with a roster revamp. One benefit of the non-grad transfer is they will have used up their one free pass. You also have gotten a free look for a year and they are knocked off their high school perch of thinking they are a one and done. Just cold hard facts.

I hear you, but I would take Buchanan as I think he is a talented player.

I hear you, but I would take Buchanan as I think he is a talented player. I like Buchanan as a player, but I can not imagine any recruit committing to Georgetown until the coaching/staff/roster situation for next year is clarified. Why would a promising young player decide to commit his basketball future to a school where he does know who will be coaching him or who he will be playing with next year? I realize coaches unexpectedly change jobs now, so recruits do deal with that to some degree already, but in the case of Georgetown right now, there is so much uncertainty that every other school recruiting a player will use that as a recruiting tool against the Hoyas. Hopefully they can settle the situation soon after the season ends and the staff can start constructing a roster for next year.

True... but PE was given a two year extension after last year and was already under contract through next year so he's presently under contract for the next three years, barring dismissal or resignation, neither of which appear likely right now. Although the timing of a Buchanan commit doesn't seem favorable unfortunately, he could give a verbal without signing a NLI (can't do now anyway) based on reassurances from PE and the University that he will continue as coach...I would like to see PE continue as coach contrary to many on this board with the caveat that he maintains the core of the roster (I'm not going to get into names, etc.) and that he gets a minimum of one, possibly two, immediate impact recruits or transfers to add to the class of Anglin, Bass and Bristol...He may also need to add a relatively young and very impactful assistant coach with both teaching and recruiting capabilities. The guys coming in are known to be good defenders and if he adds a productive player at the PF position who can also defend well, block shots, etc. I think he would have the tools to utilize full court pressure from the start next year, which I think would provide him with a calling card strategy that would make the team more competitive immediately, and provide him with a more comfortable style reminiscent of his days on the Hilltop.

That is a lot of Ifs. I like your cup half full approach but man, I can't see all those things happening.

Probably frustration at the vote of confidence, since he's not been an every thread Ewing hater.

What is the point of a post like this? Truth, perhaps? Who would read that post and think yeah, sure, GU is on its way to something great? This season provides so much evidence of that.

What’s the pitch? I may not be the coach in the fall, but I need to go through the motions to get my exit package.
