Sylvan Hills standout Nick Smith Jr. has instantly become a hot-commodity amongst the 2022 class. The 6-foot-5 combo-guard out of Arkansas has burst onto the scene and has instantly made his impact on the court and it has led to national recognition. Which programs are heavily involved in your recruitment? “Schools that are heavily involved are Memphis, North Carolina, Kansas, Arkansas, Georgetown, Florida, Texas Tech, Baylor, Ole Miss.” stockrisers.com/s/251/top-30-junior-nick-smith-jr-updates-his-recruitment

^ Potential to be an all league type of player. Going to be a tough pull.

Interesting quotes from the young man. Sounds like he has some interest, but it is a real chicken/egg situation. He wants to see some more local recruiting success before he would commit, but if he would commit that would show the local recruiting success he wants and help bring more other local players!!!!! The staff needs to find a way to land one/two of these higher level local kids and soon. They are clearly involved with these players but can't seem to close the deal. Interesting that both Kirby and Akbar, along with Ewing, are all involved for this player. Kirby has seemed to do a good job on the recruiting trail, but has not really focused on the local kids. Hopefully getting him involved may help.

It would be so nice if we can land this kid to help get the ball rolling with our local talent. I am so tired of the drought.

Get one of Tyrell Ward or Cam Whitmore in the 2022 class then go to Rice and say we did what you asked, now come join the fun lol.

While Aminu may not count as a local recruit to some people as he only played in DC for a year or two after coming from Nigeria, it should put us in a much better position for Rice especially considering how high of a recruit Aminu is and how DC being his "home" factored in. Depending on how everything shakes out (Drafts, transfers, etc.) I hope we have two scholarships instead of one for 2022 to try and use this momentum to get two solid 4 star players that will stick around for 3-4 years to build a sustainable base for the program.

Always good to make a top 10 list for a good player, but that is some tough competition. Guess we will see how that plays out.

Still, six programs are working the hardest in his recruitment. Princeton, George Washington, William & Mary, Georgetown, Davidson, and Georgia Tech.

I checked this kid out on line a little and he looks like a really good player. I think the issue is going to be that his father, who is also his coach, went to, and played at, Missouri and they are also recruiting him. Unless the kid wants to leave home for school, this one sounds like an uphill fight.
