Should be a high priority.. High upside, tough as nails competitor that really gets after it on both ends.

I agree completely...he has all the tools...plus, we lose 3 pt gds (Dickerson, Mulmore and Campbell) so its a great opportunity for him...lets get him to commit and start the ball rolling for '18...

Watching him vs Brad Beal Elite and it's startling how much more comfortable he is running the show. Really putting it all together.
Want.

Watching him vs Brad Beal Elite and it's startling how much more comfortable he is running the show. Really putting it all together. Want. Tonight is the 4th time I'm watching Xavier Johnson play this summer with TTO and each time he has shown massive jumps of improvement as a PG. If Ewing is going to run a NBA style offense like he says he is, Johnson can and will excel in that kind offense. Johnson is currently vastly underrated. His perimeter shooting will come along as that's the only thing I see hold him back. Dynamic in Pick & Roll/Pop, see's the floor extremely well, lighting quick in transition, and finishes well at the basket. Even when he looks out of control he makes the right play creating opportunities for teammates out of nothing. Explosive first step and overall speed. No i mean EXPLOSIVE first step and Speed with and without the ball in his hands. Lives in the lane off the bounce. Once he starts body hunting off the bounce, he will live and eat at the FT line as he's a very good shooter from the charity stripe. Since he's such a goo shooter from the stripe that his perimeter jumper will easily improve as his mechanics are sound. A great sign of a PG is the calmness the team has when the ball is in his hands. He should've had double digit assists tonight if teammates could finish as he was setting them up with bunnies and wide open 3's. I think Myles Dredd (Gonazaga HS/Penn State commit) finished 5/6 from 3 and only 1 of those was a contested look which he made and was fouled on for a 4 point play. I see why Creighton offered. Johnson is a bigger stronger more physical Maurice Watson Jr. Johnson is also a really intense defender with quick feet and hands and because of his speed, he's hard to screen off the ball. He was able to get a couple of perimeter steals and handful of deflections because he's in his man's jersey when they are coming off the screens. I hope the staff is really on this kid. I didn't here Ewing name mentioned with the other coaches listed in the gym or see any of the staff when they panned to the audience. I hope somebody from the staff was there and will be there tomorrow for the Eight Championship. Xavier Johnson has improved tremendously throughout this summer. Gotta keep this young man in DC! Side Note: I hope Ewing and staff are in contact with Big Jahadi White who's an assistant coach with Bradley Beal Elite 17U Team. There's a lot of talent throughout the program... 2ND Side Note: Is Biancardi the worst talent evaluator at ESPNU? Either he doesn't know these high school prospect outside of the top 10-20 and just runs his mouth like he does or he's and awful evaluator of talent and I see why he's no longer coaching. You listen to him for 5 minutes and he will contradict himself 5 times.

Thanks YaBoy! My my fear is that with all those different programs at that game is his offers/interest is going to start to really pick up. This 18 class is really really top heavy in several positions PG being one of them. When the dominoes start to fall in place, he could become a target of some of the recent heavy hitters. Based on his Twitter, he's got at least some level of interest in Creighton. No clue if the staff has been able to develop a meaningful relationship. I don't remember hearing of Johnson who's semi local (Bishop O'Connel/DMV) ever coming on campus unofficially under Ewing?

He went to Hoya Madness last year, but not sure he's been back since picking up the offer. I think he would prefer to stay local, but the staff needs to start making sure he feels the love in a big way.

Believe Johnson was a guest of Providence's when the Friars played at Verizon this past season.

Tough, heady, good vision. Coach PE could help this kid develop and this kid can certainly help coach and team.

He's a jumper away from being an absolutely great point guard prospect. He does everything else.

He's more of a defensive minded point guard. Not much offensive game in the halfcourt. Would still love him.

He's hard to contain off the dribble, and a very good passer. He gets to the basket with ease and creates both for himself and others.
