I think he made his decision with his feelings, to where he felt most comfortable and "at home", and from where he got "the most love"...e.g. I noticed how important it was to him that the Bama staff called him almost every day...how he referenced our staff as being "older" which I'm sure the Bama staff was using to attract him, along with all the beautiful young coeds on campus, etc...he never alluded to the academic advantages G'town offers (which all our other recruits highlighted as being very significant) and he never mentioned the potential probation that could result from the staff member cash transaction involving an incoming recruit's family...with Giddens transferring in and eligible this year at center, I think he would have had a quicker path to playing time here, playing behind Govan for 1 year or possibly none if he goes pro...lastly, he had an opportunity to play for one of the greatest big men to ever play the game...When you add this all up, I don't think this was the best cerebral decision, but it was the one he "felt" was best...such is the world of college recruiting...my philosophy remains-go get somebody better!

Oh well gotta move on. I thought with the Kirby and Tyler Adams connection we could have got him. No need to panic. Let's just wait and see what kids are available come the spring time. Gotta keep tabs on thamba and some of the other 2019 guys...
There will be other decommits, juco guys and grad transfers later in the yr.

So many options will emerge over the course of the year. Mid-season transfers, late bloomers, regular transfers and graduate transfers. Coaches will be fired or leave and kids will start looking. Ewing's best recruiting pitch now should be starting in a week to show that he can coach at this level and take a team that flopped horribly in the past few years and overachieve. The effort is there. The commitment is there. Now show the ability to produce on the floor and it is all good.

Now he will be the 120th most important athlete in Tuscaloosa, right after the third string long snapper for the Tide...

I am always curious whether any of these young men, especially when there are only 2 schools left in the running, give the losing coach a heads up just before announcing, or contact the loser afterword to thank them personally for their interest. Probably too much to ask in this day and age. Personally, I think this took place sometime around or shortly thereafter Midnight Madness. Fleming's twitter account kinda went GU quite, PE was focused on getting Mac on board and then the staff went on a road trip to Southern Va to see Flo Thamba play. So yes, I think Fleming probably did contact PE on his decision, regardless of the FBI investigation.

I am fine with Fleming to Bama. I prefer a more mobile Big who can run the floor. I actually prefer that we hold off on a center until the stacked 2019 class (possibly grad transfer big to bridge the gap). I think after we landed Leblanc (who isn’t a center but rebounds and block shots) the need for an ‘18 Big was lessened, and I wouldn’t be surprised if our pursuit off him cooled as well.

Meh, he's probably more of a Bama football fan than anything.

As I mentioned some time ago, it would have really stung to lose out on both LeBlanc and Fleming, but that didn't happen. Both would have been nice, but I'm happy with the one we got.

LeBlanc is more suited for up-and-down play. Fleming is a bit of a plodder. I want bigs, but I want them with speed and bounce.

Slow footed, under the rim player who will never sniff the league. Wishing him all the luck and success and Bama. 😉
Would have been happy if he were a Hoya.

What does it matter that he will likely "never sniff the league"? Why are you bashing a kid for not coming here? Seems very unlike you. There are plenty of productive, even great college players who don't sniff the league.

Apologies to B&G if i missed any sarcasm. Which is why I said it seemed very unlike him.

I don't think there was sarcasm, just realism. He doesn't have the athleticism to be a NBA player. Will still be a great college player though. B&G just stated that, wished him luck, and still said he would have taken him as a Hoya.

Pretty sure that smiley was there to indicate (facetiously) that was how one is supposed to respond on a message board when somebody chooses another school.

Given today's news - he gonna rethink his commit ? Nah. Nor should he. The cloud was over the 'Bama program well before today's news release.

Agreed. Whatever factors drove Javian's choice have not changed.

Totally kidding. Good kid. Would be happy to have him as a Hoya...won’t be surprised however if we land a better prospect.
