I have to defer to those of you who actually watch the tape and see these kids play to know whether and how this kid fits. No matter what happens there are always late developers available in the Spring including regular and graduate transfers. This is the last scholarship available for 2018 if I am counting correctly. If this kid chooses the Hoyas and the coaches believe he can help then great. If not, it is still very early in the time line for the new world of college recruiting and there will be other options available that no one is even thinking of at this time.

Also, the coaching carousel usually frees up a few blue chippers.

Other than Flo thamba what other bigs are we in on? I can't think of any. We spent alot of time and effort on Fleming.

If we don't get Fleming, it doesn't matter that we aren't currently all in on other kids. There will be plenty of time to find late bloomers/transfers/decommits and honestly, I'd rather end up with another true wing or guard then another big for 2018.
I also don't trust the crystal ball very much. At this point the stragglers have no new info, they just are going with the guys that changed early with "info". It makes most sense to guess Bama right now because the last official contact Javian has had with either school was an in-home visit with Avery Johnson.

I don't get it but I guess some people are just more risk tolerant than I would ever be.
Good luck to him.

Keep moving. Many of you sniffed this weeks ago. Sorry we spent the time on him. We will find someone better who wants to be a Hoya. I believe coaches need to qualify these recruits better so too much resources are not spent on someone who doesn't want what you are offering but enjoys being chased. Maybe they did, and this is not a big loss.

Maybe they did, and this is not a big loss. You can't win every battle DC, doesn't mean the kid was stringing you along. Chris Mack has done a pretty good job recruiting over the years, but readily admitted that they have missed on most of their big targets this time around. We started late in the game, but still made the final two, a good showing. I am sure it stings to the staff, but they know the game. And yes, there will be other promising targets to focus on.

We may get a second crack if the FBI uncovers some dirt. I don't see us desperate for a big anyway, but there will be others out there to land.

Can't get too worked up about missing out on a top 200 recruit. As has been said, started late and were trying to pull from south. Worked with Leblanc, not with Fleming. Easier typically to pull regional kids with a smattering of national recruits then the other way around. I feel good about where the '17 class ended up and where the '18 class is at present.

I am always curious whether any of these young men, especially when there are only 2 schools left in the running, give the losing coach a heads up just before announcing, or contact the loser afterword to thank them personally for their interest. Probably too much to ask in this day and age.

dc the grumpier side of me has the same thoughts when we lose one - we wasted a lot of our time and resources, we need to focus only on kids who want us, etc. But then time passes and I know that unless you are one of the top echelon elites, you lose more of these than you win. The staff undoubtedly focuses on kids who have a genuine interest in Georgetown, and tries to allocate their recruiting time accordingly. That said, to paraphrase Elvado - once a kid chooses not to be a Hoya, he is dead to me. I don't wish them good luck, nor bad luck. They are out of my consideration.
