What about Malachi? Can we get Malachi and Aminu and maybe have Mutombo reclass to 22? We need Malachi as I believe this opens the door to other recruits per Riley. I would be surprised if the staff brings in another PG (outside of Collins or Brantley) in this class. I think Riley's commitment may have changed recruiting priorities.

PE completed a zoom call with 2021 Top 100 Chance Moore today. It sure looks like we are after another guard whether it is Frankie, Malachi, Aminu, or someone else.

Chance Moore is a wing. he can slide over and play the 3. I think he wants a crown jewel to finish off this class if Billingsley is coming.

Coach must have the ultimate confidence in Wahab. Igoeffe, and Wilson. I can't criticize but I'm perplexed about our recent recruits given the big men we have been recruiting. We have been heavily recruiting guards and wings. Any thoughts on this?

Either completely bizarre or concerning. It's one thing to bring in Collins or Malachi, pure point guards but a SG after the Riley and Carey commitments? With guys like Berger, Beard and Clark coming in as well that could all see time at the 2... Who is the SF of the future on this team? That's where you focus unless they plan to play Riley there...

So would I. But in response to another comment, I think we have at least two small forwards in Clark and Holloway.

I dont think anyone on the board understands the recruiting strategy of Coach Ewing. I dont have a clue but trust his judgement. So many big names are bandied about and we pursue diligently, but there are always other guys being pursued (stealthly) and offered. So we (the general fan base, we're not the insiders, but I believe some are), mystified- I am anyway. But the bottom line is, we have to win to land the big fish!

Maybe Ryan has already informed the coaches he will be going elsewhere. Maybe coaches already know someone will leave after this year. Cue the "these things always work themselves out" mantra. Possible that given the McDermott/Creighton and Drummond/UConn situations, Ryan could play as a non-scholarship. He took a official so he would have to be a scholarship player

I'm not sure where we are headed with the final two scholarships (Guard, Forward, Center). What I like is that coach is on his grind and the HS kids are feeling him. I think coach is on a mission to get the kids to commit now and not necessarily wait for those who want to wait to make their commitments later. The 21' class, no matter who commits to the hilltop, is going to be lit!

We don't have Billingsley yet, so let's not count our chickens on the two scholarships left front. At least wait a few days, then we'll know.

He took a official so he would have to be a scholarship player Is there a rule that states that? He could maybe get an academic scholarshop or Deke could pay. How likely is any of that? Men's basketball is limited to 13 "counters" (i.e., either a recruited athlete or someone who receives athletic aid). Ryan Mutombo is a "counter" because we have recruited him so whether his father can afford Georgetown's exorbitant tuition, room and board is not relevant to whether there's slot for him if he is a "counter." If this is incorrect, someone please correct me. Here is a link to the NCAA rules. It is not particularly transparent but others have discussed this issue before. As I understand it, if Ryan took an official visit to Georgetown, i.e., paid for by Georgetown, he is a "counter" and it does not matter if his father subsequently chooses to pays full tuition, room and board if he were to commit to the Hoyas. Ryan would count against the thirteen scholarship limit. See Articles 15.5.1 at p. 221 and 15.5.5 at p. 228. web3.ncaa.org/lsdbi/reports/getReport/90008

I don't think he took an official and if his family could have afforded Penn, I assume they can make Georgetown work?

Maybe we should just wait and see how everything plays out before determining that certain recruits already promised a scholarship should no longer get it and making assumptions about family financials? What's that saying again?? These things have a way of working themselves out!?!
