Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. We'll have a lot of company at this game though... Aside from the ones mentioned here, Juwan Howard and a Louisville assistant (probably Pegues) will be in attendance We should just accept the L on this one and move on. hm When it comes to Keels you may be right. The time to send our full staff to his games was probably a year or two ago. We didn't put a full court press on him until later, and now he's blown up and can go anywhere he wants. We won't win him over on strength of relationship and we certainly won't win on on-court success/prestige or putting out NBA players. So our only hope is to win on geography, ie. that for whatever reason he wants to be as close to home as possible, which is increasingly uncommon. I'd agree that our odds of winning that one are very slim. That said, I do think it's worth being there to continue building relationships with other prospects, like the 2022 prospects (ie. McDaniel) who will be playing tonight. I'm sure Bennett, Wright, Juwan, Roy, Larranaga, et. al will be trying to do the same, but still worth trying to build relationships there. Maybe they'll finally open their eyes to Hawkins from DeMatha too--not on Keels level, but definitely a high major talent who is, for the moment, more attainable. #53 in the class in the latest Rivals rankings, playing in town, being recruited by conference mates (Xavier and Marquette on him hard) but hasn't even gotten a look from us yet. If we miss on him because we're after other guys who we have very little realistic chance with and then end up signing some "diamond in the rough" from the midwest next spring and talking ourselves into him, it'd be par for the course for recent recruiting.

It is so disheartening how little traction the staff has made in the WCAC and DC in general. 4 years of recruiting classes for Pat and zero WCAC kids have committed. Very little chance at Keels at this point, but there are probably 4-5 kids in that game that Pat should have contact with. Can't just keep missing out on every one of them.

Nuts! Kids have superb options. The very talented high school basketball players from DMV have the entire USA as their oyster! As wonderful as Georgetown is and WDC, the big boys call on our market often and many who went away have enjoyed success. Coach Ewing searches far, wide and near for recruiting prospects. We have not made the grade yet! These kids welcome the opportunities to see something different and play high quality, high profile ball. We just need to win, keep playing as we have, ruggedly, and have some luck. It would help if we had a more international base coming to our doors. Yes, we've had some success, but we need more. Why is UMCP so successful? Is it their coach, facilities or the resources of the university?

With the way the transfer rule works these days, if kids leave their home, go far away and they don’t like it, they transfer back closer to home. We’ve had a few of those transfers. Kids who want to transfer back to the DMV might be a market we can take advantage of.

I’ll start with No. 35 Kowacie Reeves, a smooth 6-foot-5 shooter from Macon (Ga.) Westside. The more I see him on film, the more I see a guy whose recruitment could still take a big step forward. Don’t get me wrong, offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia Tech, Xavier and others are big-time. I just can’t help but think we see some of the bluebloods jump in. Regardless, I’m glad we have him ranked highly. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/three-point-play-arizona-state-2021-risers-teams-that-stand-out

Since coming to La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere from Europe, tough combo forward Jeremy Sochan has made a name for himself. He’s already ranked No. 72 in the class of 2021 but it wouldn’t surprise me if he made a play for the top 50 or better. He can play inside and out, he’s intelligent and he’s tough. DePaul, Georgetown, Santa Clara, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington State and Xavier have offered but, that party is about to get really crowded. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/three-point-play-arizona-state-2021-risers-teams-that-stand-out

If we do well in ‘21 recruiting, coupled with what we got for ‘20, we could be competitive.

I like the’20 class a lot, so far. We just need a solid ‘21 class and things will look brighter. Still expecting a tough season next year.
