I love his game and always root for him. Most of his shots look good. The ones he misses are rushed. Page was a hard dunker- Blair doesn't have that element to his game. Vic was sooo good.

True...VP had top shelf athleticism and could blow by guys off the dribble. Still...a mini VP....with some of the same attitude.

Happy to see him taking it inside tonight, even though the shots were a little awkward. Helps keep the defense honest.

I would as, Glide has said, like to see him develop his right hand going to the hoops. He's dangerous already and being a little more flexible, diverse will help him. He's a great asset.

It's a tough year as we expected. But there are reasons for optimism if only in the development we've seen from the guys. I can't remember seeing this many guys improving in-season in the recent past. A lot of that is the guys themselves, for sure. But a little of that, at a minimum, has to be due to the staff. I was happy to read about Jamorko working with Wallace on his ball skills. These guys are putting in work. Reminds me of the reports of DSR getting up shots at 6 AM. It may not be to a man but many of these guys are clearly getting after it. I know that that should be the expectation but, during the grind of the season, a lot of time you see regression (especially with the younger guys).

We're seeing progress in the younger guys for sure. But it's undermined by a slide from Jessie, expected to be our best player. Hope it's temporary.

No doubt Blair kept us in the game last night. Love his aggressiveness in a hostile environment. Obviously the staff has given him the green light. Yes he might force things at times, but that's natural for a freshman, especially one with the scoring responsibilities that he has. Looking forward to watching him continue to develop.

The kid is talented and progressing. Agree with all the comments about his fearlessness and willingness to take the big shot being a needed element of this offense. However, still want the coaches to reign him in when he starts forcing shots when covered or off balance. No reason he cannot learn to distinguish a good and bad shot at this time. Look at the progress he has already made this season. That learning process is an essential part of his development and will make him an even more important part of the future.

The only shot I had an issue with was the contested 3 off a screen early in the shot clock. I realize that he is one of the few who can create shots, but that shot is usually available later in the possession. But the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores with a year of experience.

DO NOT LET THIS KID SHOOT LONG THREES!
Just having some fun. But yesterday is some of what I see in Jahvon -- I also think that he's going to develop a nice floater/mid-range pull up and he has the opportunity to become quite the efficient scorer. Not as a primary guy necessarily when all the focus is on him, but as a #2 scorer off a strong creator.

He does have a solid float/midrange game. It hasn't showed up yet at this level but watching him in HS he showed he can finish with both hands from around 8-10 feet in and has a variety of shots in his bag.
I thought he played pretty ok but in some ways he shot us in the game, then he shot us out of it.
He can get hot and it's fun watching a player with no conscious get it going. Hopefully as he starts to play with better players he tightens up his shot selection because some of those shots are not what you want imo. If he does I could see those percentages go up a significant amount. Like the 4rbds and 3 assts also....

I know that that should be the expectation but, during the grind of the season, a lot of time you see regression (especially with the younger guys). Great that Wallace is working with Pickett. I hope it is on his jump shot because they have similar trajectory after the ball leaves their hands, a very high arc. I am not so enthused about Wallace being the lead on improving his handle, because Jonathan’s handle was not the tightest in traffic. I thought the Hoyas had some young streetball guy working with the guards on his their handles. Both Moseley and Blair also need to tighten their handles, both have chest high dribbles that makes deflecting ball away from them very easy. The Princeton style offense hid these faults because the guards did not have to handle the ball a lot, however in Ewing’s uptempo Offense they are required to handle it a lot especially at the top of the lane with the pick and rolls. Their shaky handles have caused a ton of offensive fouls on picks by the big men, because they have had to move in order to make contact with the defensive player.

I love Jahvon’s fearlessness, but he has a tendency to be a black hole. He has the highest usage rate on the team at 26% and an OER that is just below 100.

Using OER is kind of misleading because everyone outside of MD is below 100 in conference play.. His rating is almost identical to Govan's & Moseley's.. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/georgetown/2018.html

His rating is almost identical to Govan's & Moseley's.. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/georgetown/2018.htmlYes, part of the issue here is that none of our players have good offensive efficiency in Big East play, which is a simple indicator that our offense isn't very good (which we knew already). The only player above a 100 offensive efficiency in Big East play is Derrickson, at 115.8. Next is Mosely at 95.4, followed by Blair and Govan at 95. Walker, Pickett, Dickerson, Johnson, and Mulmore are all below 95 (with Mulmore at 81.3, and Dickerson at 72.4, both of which are really bad). So, compared to the rest of the team, Blair is doing quite well, and that's why it's not bad that he's taking so many shots. My main suggestion would be to increase Derrickson's usage slightly, since he's the best player, but still, it's not that far off. Blair's usage is 25.2%, Govan is 23.9%, and Derrickson is 23.8%. So ultimately, we are talking about minor changes. While Derrickson's usage could probably be higher (in the 25-26 range, perhaps), it can't go that much higher before his efficiency begins to suffer.
