Respect his decision and some of the flaws in his game right now, such as fouling, will not be as significant at the next level where fouls are nowhere near as tightly called. Still worry that his handle and his outside shot are not yet developed to the point that they need to be, but then it is highly unlikely he could improve in either area at Georgetown given the team returning next year. He would be double-teamed every game.

I'm surprised anybody is surprised that he's leaving. He could have left after last year. His defensive ability is highly valued in the NBA (where they don't have silly freedom of movement rules which make it impossible to play one on one defense or not foul.) as it was on Sean Miller's World Team that won the title. Elite athleticism and can score as well.
He will make it on an NBA team as either a 1st or 2nd rounder. At worst he will be playing in Europe and pulling down 70K or in China pulling down 150K a season.

I wish you well LJ.
I'm glad he's departing the sinking ship.

There will be no bottom until we get a new coach. We will just continue to sink lower and lower, to deeper depths that were previously unimaginable. Agree completely with the sentiment but LJ leaving is not in my opinion related to our coaching situation. In fact, if we had a good season it would have been more likely he leaves to earn a living. But we could be dead last in the Big East next year as a result. That was my point as well. Georgetown losing LJ Peak to a pro career is something that happens in the college game everywhere. I want III gone, as well, but LJ leaving is not further evidence that we need a change. There is plenty of that evidence recited over the past 300 pages.

Best of luck to LJ.
Supporting a young family is always tough, cannot fault him for moving forward with his life.
We will miss him

Listen, maybe just maybe he gets into NBA and starts to kill it and we can say we put a guard in the league and suddenly our program comes back to respectability?!?
That's possible, right?
Good luck to LJ. He always came with effort.

While I wanted to see Peak come back and don't necessarily agree this is ideal for his basketball future (having incomplete information, of course, so I admit there could be considerations I am not aware of), I wish him the best. He was a good player for us, always played hard, and never gave up. I also wish him the best of luck in making it in the NBA. I hope to see him there - it would be good both for him and the program.

How long can GU remain silent in the face of this implosion?? Huh? Some of these comments are comical.. I could see if this was Mulmore declaring. Good luck to LJ.

My comment is in the larger context of the turmoil surrounding the program. Sure, many expected LJ to leave but GU's silence in the face of all that has gone on is an insult to those who contribute money to support it.

Wish you guys hadn't been so mean to JTIII. LJ would've come back for his senior season if not for whiny, entitled Milennials. /tc This is all Casual Hoya's fault. Also millennials aka snowflakes. And the kid who got assaulted by the former player. Sheesh what a snowflake he is. Oh, and posters on this board! Good job, people who support this program even as it's clearly dying. You ruined everything! I agree, they ruin everything.

Until ESPN's report is confirmed by GU Athletic Department and Peak himself, it is nothing but a rumor from an unnamed source to ESPN. Before we all overreact, let's wait and see.

And the kid who got assaulted by the former player. I don't think that word means what you think it means. Let's discuss the law again!! An assault need not be consummated by a battery!! A mere threat to do physical harm and an apparent ability to do so will suffice if the victim reasonably apprehends that such harm is imminent. www.law.cornell.edu/wex/assault

Let's keep this in perspective. Usually, when a guy goes pro, it's a GOOD thing for a program. Obviously, this cements our already bleak short-term prospects, but I'm happy for LJ, my favorite Hoya (maybe besides Otto) in recent memory.
I think he's got a good chance once he's operating in a free-flowing system. Ours did not suit him at all. I know there's some debate around his NBA-readiness, but one thing is for sure - another year would not have increased his chances. Thank you LJP!
