He’s going to do some good things this year. Jagan is one tough kid, who works his butt off. You can only do so much to get quicker, and to improve your outside shot, but his intensity and his effort will absolutely make him an important piece. I just hope he can match Mackinjo's intensity and effort. Jagan looked like one of the most intense in a JT3 team, now it's different. This year Mackinjo probably will suffer an adjustment re: foul calling in the next level, so Jagan has to be ready to step in without the team missing a beat.

He’s going to do some good things this year. If he is working on his basketball game as much as his dancing, he will be BE POY. I would rather see 4am videos of 3 point shooting. This.

I wouldn't want to see 4am videos of 3 point shooting, because that likely means that he's not getting enough sleep for proper muscle recovery. But seriously, Jagan is 20 years old and recorded a 45 second dancing promo video during summer sessions. It's not like he's out filming the sequel to Uncle Drew. If you think that players should only post about basketball on social media, then you need to adjust your expectations.

Let’s just say he puts a lot time into his moves.

Just a follow up thought....do you have any idea what kind of dancers Akinjo or Mac are?

Just a follow up thought....do you have any idea what kind of dancers Akinjo or Mac are? Yes, Mac isn't very good at dancing, he's said on social media he has white boy moves when pressed to dance. People need to chill out though. It's the offseason. You can only train for so many hours in a day. Summer classes are only so hard. I'd rather have him making a light hearted video then out drinking or fighting bouncers on M street.

I couldn't agree more and this just smells of people that never actually played sports at the college level. If somehow you took a less than a minute dance video and spun it in your head that a 20 year old shouldn't have any time to enjoy his life while also working at his craft, then you have the problem.

Come on, you’re selling short the production value of that film. It had an expensive car, film crew, close-up of some fashionable tennis shoes, filming at several of the best campus locations to keep it stylish, interesting and add another dimension to his moves, some video editing effects just because, etc... it was missing the video girls... Some careful Jiggy Style planning went into that video... meanwhile, nearby, Akinjo is dribbling up and down the Exorcist steps.

Sometimes people forget that these guys are actually college students and actually have lives and interests outside basketball (as they should).

Japan seems too be a good kid who is enjoying his college experience at Georgetown. To my knowledge he has never done anything to embarrass the school or the program. I am sure everyone wishes he was an All American player and could lead us to the Final Four, and I am sure he wishes for that same thing, but I like the effort he gives and the toughness he brings to the team and I look for him to have a very good junior and senior year.

Interesting perspectives.....on the other hand we have the recent story of Henry Sims who didn’t really improve until he committed to it his senior year and was admittedly having too much fun at Georgetown before that. We only get a snapshot into Jagan (or more accurately a series of snapshots via Instagram), but this is what too much fun could look like.
I am the parent of a nationally competitive athlete two years younger than Jagan....and much more successful in his sport than Jagan is. People are different, but my son and the others I see both his age and older are remarkably focused on what it takes for their athletic success. None seem to have similar distractions.

Give me a break with this BS! Do you realize how much partying is done by some of the best athletic performers at a college level? I played college football and use to always say that any idiot that bets on a college football game would think twice if they knew what went on most Friday nights of away games in and around the hotel. Trust me when i tell you that the stars that could get away with it were usually leading the way. I was focused on my studies, my football and having a hell of good time while I was in college just like most of the athletes that I know. The ones that went on to play in the NFL were no less in to having a good time and a couple of them would have selected it as a Major if it was an option. They still hit the gym/weight room and video tape sessions very hard as well.

It is not BS. I am aware of how much partying is done by college athletes. (I watched #1 seed Georgetown almost lose to #16 Princeton- and reports were they partied very hard the night before.). I also know that they are suboptimizing their performance. www.whoop.com/the-locker/the-four-day-hangover/The people that you knew who made the NFL were that good that they could perform at a high enough level even when not at 100%. Some have been suggesting that Jagan will step into the guard void next to Akinjo. He might. Based on the evidence to date, Jagan doesn’t seem to be good enough where suboptimum effort is good enough to perform at a high level in the BE. I definitely think Jagan has a role to play on this team. If he were the lead combo guard, that would be a surprise to me.

You’re basing your opinion of Jagan on weekly to monthly social media posts of him dancing or hanging out with friends? And then comparing him to your son who isn’t in college yet but apparently doesn’t have friends, doesn’t play video games, isn’t on social media, doesn’t follow sports, doesn’t go out on weekends, and only focuses on his athletic pursuits when not in school? Cool. In the end, this video wasn’t released by Jagan, it was released by the athletic department. If the athletic department or the coaching staff didn’t approve, it wouldn’t have happened. And I trust their judgement of how Jagan is spending his time more than your judgement based on a couple of photos that he puts on social media.

There are also bbn plenty of undocumented cases where people have gone out and had a performance of theirnlife on a few hours sleep. I've seen a fair amount of role players that have worked their way to be good players in starting lineups and not a single one of them didn't have a good time when in college. If Jagan's stats/play improves between Sophomore and Junior year to the same extent they did between freshman and sophomore then i could care less if he gets a record deal during the summer. The fact that we are arguing about his dance videos being an impediment to him working on his basketball skills is a joke. I know he isn't lighting up Kenner and that is supposed to mean something. Neither is Pickett and I cringe everytime we get an update and someone is actually concerned with his Kenner play versus what he has already been able to do on the stage that matters.

I followed him long enough in Instagram to see that this was a major theme and not a one-off occurrence. If you want to circle the wagons around Jagan and make me the villain and throw stones at my son, knock yourself out. I imagine that many would have done the same around Henry several years ago. Sometimes the answers to your questions are right in front of you if you bother to look at the evidence available to you. Jagan seems like a good young man. I hope has a monster season next year...I am not expecting it.
