Odd that we go back to OOC games and we get back to the line a lot, or is it? Big East officials inept and possibly corrupt.

Was at the game. Great game, great atmosphere (actually had level 4 concessions open), great alley-oop, and great win. But the best part was watching my DVR recording and hearing Donny Marshall after the game just ream the UCONN administration for leaving the Big East. If you have a recording make sure you listen to the post-game analysis. Marshall especially missed the atmosphere of yesterday's game calling it classic BE. I wasn't at the Maryland game but I really think the energy in the Center helped the Hoyas during their second half run. I hope it will be the same at my last two games - Marquette and Nova. Didn't the BE leave UConn?

Didn't the BE leave UConn? They are trying to field a football team which is getting in the way of what they are good at. As I said a couple days ago. Park that football team somewhere like the MAC and come home to the BE. It would be a win for everyone. I think Syracuse might follow. There will come a time when you realize being a doormat in football isn't worth giving everything else up.

I think for Cuse it would be more dramatic but would still be interesting to see the difference in money if anyone knew what that would mean. I just feel these schools are being drained as they are slaves to football which isn't their sweet spot.

I just feel these schools are being drained as they are slaves to football which isn't their sweet spot. I just don't think Uconn will ever give up on the dream of getting into one of the big 5, big money football conferences. For all their success in basketball, it really does seem that the school cares a lot more about football, chasing the massive money that would come with moving into a big money conference. My guess would be that people like Calhoun and Ollie are furious that uconn prioritizes an awful football program so much more than their championship hoops program. Geno probably does not care, he operates on a whole different level by scheduling a ton of top level out of conference games, and almost always having the best team in the country. Conference is pretty irrelevant to their women's program. It seems like a real longshot that Uconn will ever get the big football money at this point, but the school seems more than willing to hold out for a lot longer. there may be another round of realignment in college sports if/when current TV contracts are up, and potentially the financial payouts to schools go down because of all the cord-cutters dropping ESPN and other cable sports stations. That would cause big ripples through both college football and hoops in ways that are pretty hard to predict right now.

Didn't the BE leave UConn? It was my understanding that when the non-D1 football BE schools formed the new BE all new members would have to not have a D-1 football program. UCONN chose not to join because they would have to abandon their ridiculous dreams of moving to a major D-1 football conference and getting some of that big TV money. Granted that expecting them to do so was unrealistic but I'm sure had they done so the new BE would have welcomed them in. Am I wrong? BTW, see this article about possible return of UCONN to BE: www.app.com/story/sports/college/2016/10/10/why-uconn-big-east-reunite-before-long/91840616/

Very exciting comeback, but I would say the key was that this was by far the best I've seen us hit the boards against decent competition all season. UConn's offensive rebounds were kept to a minimum (although they did get one at the end, of course). If we get beat up on the boards, we lose this game. Hopefully we can bring the same effort and intensity today against Providence.
