I was listening to the UCLA - Cal game while driving home last night, and Domingo was substituted in for Cal. The Bruin announcers kept talking about how sorry they felt for the kid because, wait for it, he's shooting 10-55 this season. And 4-12 from the line. He only took one shot last night and was fouled. He proceeded to miss both free throws, so make that 4-14. This is really sad. Obviously what got broken here, Cal couldn't fix. I think he ought to try opera singing.
In another note, Ivan Rabb went for 17 and 20 last night. Did our entire team even garner 20 boards the other night (this is a hyperbolic comment; I know we did, it just seems like we didn't).

How did the Hoyas mess up this young man? Perhaps he is just not good enough?

Obviously what got broken here, Cal couldn't fix. I am not sure there was ever much there to "break."

Look at the bright side here. At least we enrolled him early and found out he could not play that much sooner

He was supposed to be a deadeye shooter. Unfortunately, guys who we recruit as deadeye shooters often end up as something less (see Domingo and Reggie). I certainly don't think we do anything to them to make them into poorer shooters. They just end up not being what we hope they will be. And whatever went haywire with Domingo's shooting here only got worse at Cal. He didn't see the floor in the game against USC last night.

If you google his career stats, its amazing they do not pull his schollie. He must be getting a 3.5 or higher. 31% career FT shooter, 20% career 3pt shooter.

How did the Hoyas mess up this young man? Perhaps he is just not good enough? He was killing it for Team USA. I don't know what happened. It was always a confidence thing with Domingo. Believing in himself.
