The class of 2020 in the DMV area is loaded with high Division I talent. McKinley Technical High School in Washington D.C. had one of those big-time talents this season in freshman Woody Newton. The scary part is even though he stands 6’8″ 165 pounds, Newton still has a lot of growing and development ahead of him. In his freshman campaign, Newton averaged 13 points and seven rebounds per game for the 16-9 McKinley Tech Trainers. More times than not, Newton’s length stands out over everyone else on the floor. www.prephoops.com/2017/05/recruiting-report-woody-newton-2020/Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 West Virginia is hosting Rivals100 sophomore wing Woody Newton for an unofficial visit

Ranked No. 68, the four-star wing has already received scholarship offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, UNLV, St. John’s and a handful of others. Taking an unofficial visit to Kentucky earlier this winter, the 6-foot-5 sophomore discussed his development heading into his junior travel ball season. “My jump shot and 3-pointer, just getting that more consistent, and my body, trying to get strength and everything correct,” he said. While only St. John’s has offered, Wood told Rivals that the Red Storm, Oregon, South Carolina and Louisville have been the most active in the early portion of his recruitment. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/class-of-2020-four-star-elijah-wood-seeing-recruitment-increaseCorey Evans @coreyevans_10 Florida has offered Rivals100 sophomore Elijah Wood Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Rivals100 sophomore wing Elijah Wood will transfer into Sunrise Christian Academy this fall, he tells @rivals

When Williams woke up this morning, he said he already had texts from Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth, Ohio State and Florida. This morning, he’s had more texts from Kansas, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Stanford. Before Friday, Williams had been seeing interest from VCU, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgetown, LSU, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, and Stanford, to name a few. He said he is hoping to hear also from Texas Christian, Cal and UCLA today. At 6-11 and 210 pounds, Williams is the younger, but certainly not little brother, of former ALL-USA girls basketball player Elizabeth Williams, now in the WNBA with the Atlanta Dream. Williams was eight when his sister unveiled her college choice of Duke in 2010, but now he’s the one being pursued. usatodayhss.com/2018/its-a-big-day-for-juniors-to-be-at-nba-top-100-camp

With double-digit offers from high-major programs, Springer is feeling lots of love but he hasn't yet found specific programs that stick out to him. "I know that Wake Forest and NC State and Maryland and schools like that have been on me real hard," Springer said. "I've been seeing them a lot but there's not one school that is really standing out just yet." One thing that Springer has been very good about is visiting the programs showing interest. He's already seen Kentucky, North Carolina, NC State, Maryland, Georgetown , South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest. Often times when a player takes that many early visits, it's indicative of wanting to make an early decision. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/five-star-jaden-springer-is-one-of-2020-s-most-explosive-scorersWhen it comes to pure scoring ability and explosive athletic ability, Jaden Springer can hang with any player in the country, regardless of class. The 6-foot-4 scorer from North Carolina plays the game in attack mode and never backs down from a challenge. Put it this way, he’s not out there to not shoot the ball and one way or another he’s going to get his buckets. That confidence allows him to score in any situation but it can also get him into a little bit of trouble at times where he simply tries to do too much. Also, he’s tended to rely a little bit too much on his athleticism which has led to some questionable shot selection at times. Springer will learn patience and shot selection as he gets more experienced, what is more important is that he’s fixing a previous worry, his jump shot. Playing with Bobby Maze Elite in Under Armour’s Association, Springer shot 38.2 percent from the three-point line and looked much more comfortable as a jump shooter. Should he continue along that path, he’s going to make a very strong case for the 2020 top 10. -- Eric Bossi basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/making-the-case-three-players-who-could-land-in-top-10-for-2020

MARCUS DOCKERY, DC PREMIER UAA 16U Coming off of a standout season at Theodore Roosevelt (DC), Dockery has picked up where he left off this spring while leading a Premier squad stocked with perimeter talent. Dockery posted 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in a 55-46 win over The District, showcasing his offensive versatility and playmaking ability. “It’s a very talented group,” he said. “We have a lot of upside and are very talented, and I think if all of us come together as one and get everybody involved we can win.” The 6-foot-1, 153-pound lefty transferred from Bishop Ireton to Roosevelt last summer and made an instant impact, earning All-DCIAA, DCSAA and DMVelite DC recognition while leading the Rough Riders in scoring. ”[The transfer] helped a lot,” he said, “because I’ve got a coach who is letting me shoot when I want to and get involved in the offense my first time being on the team. It just helped my confidence.” Cincinnati, George Mason, Georgetown, George Washington, Howard, La Salle, Oklahoma State, Rhode Island and Seton Hall are among the schools who have talked to Dockery. www.dmvelite.com/news_article/show/919253?referrer_id=3539797Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 2020 @dcpremierhoops guard Marcus Dockery will transfer into Bishop O’Connell this fall, a source tells @rivals.
