They said that by the time they realized turnout would significantly exceed the last midterm election, there wasn’t time to find additional machines.

It's not like early voting in Georgia started on October 15th and it's not like a record amount of early votes were cast prior to Tuesday...

Why would these election officials have any idea voter turnout would be so high?

IDK but imo the Governor ordering a criminal investigation into HIS OWN ELECTION is a much bigger threat to democracy than Broward County taking a long time to count votes in a historically-high turnout election.

This is just another fine example of the wonderful influence Trump has on the Republican Party. And Trump previewed this during the 2016 campaign. "If things don't go our way, claim fraud, regardless of whether there is the least iota of evidence."

One good thing about Trump is he has no shame so folks can't pretend to not see what's happening. If this was about election integrity you would want every eligible citizens vote counted. You wouldn't push a "voter fraud talking point" based on nothing. This is simply a political tool Republicans are using to maintain power.

They use the "voter fraud talking point" to try and limit who can vote in an election by putting up unnecessary barriers for certain groups. And here you see them using the "voter fraud talking point" to try and limit who's votes should be counted after an election.

What evidence do you have that the rules aren’t being followed? According to LE, there’s no fraud taking place, and no other law-breaking.

Now, is it arguable that the Broward County election board is less than competent? Between ballot design, inability to asses numbers of outstanding ballots and the like, it doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence. And yet, the head of elections was appointed by Scott himself, so you could argue that he only has himself to blame.
