Wow, that really backfired on this campaign that can't get out of it's own way. At least his kid's speak highly of him as no one else does.

I didn't see Cruz but I did catch a good bit of Pence. He's at least as bad as anyone Hillary will pick. I get that you have to stand up for your party but the complete 180s we've seen in this cycle are really disheartening. Trash a guy/gal one day and stand behind them fully the next. With regard to the Republicans, the fact that they are trying to change the narrative to being the uniting party and getting applause whilst doing so absolutely baffles me.

The Cruz speech has to be unprecedented in a convention for a speech that had that much focus. I think the crowd should have just been quiet as what he was saying didn't seem that inflammatory but by booing him made it a much bigger issue. Showed the party divide and the other party will tear this apart. It was a good show though.

Mostly, sadly, out of a sense of shame and morbidity with regard to both sides. It's no longer out of curiosity for me. It's more about a sense of "how far astray have we gone" sort of thing. And I find that disturbing.

Is the Republican Party more united after the RNC?

Is the Republican Party more united after the RNC? Doesn't matter. Ted Cruz isn't playing for 2016. I don't like him as a Senator or as a candidate, but that speech was all about the future and if Trump goes down in flames, it will be Cruz's launching pad for 2020. It's has shades of 1960, when Barry Goldwater addressed the Nixon-Lodge convention with these words: "Let's grow up conservatives! If we want to take this Party back, and I think we can some day, let's get to work." He did, and they did.

I thought the Cruz stategy was brilliant. I'll give him credit, he's got Jessie Sapp big ones! Came to the party and totally acted a fool. Plus, he absolutely just killed Trump in his speech this morning. That was personal, and he left no doubt about that fact. Should not have talked about Cruz's wife and his daddy the way he did. Never thought I'd ever say this, but "Go Ted Cruz!" That was great.

Trump knew it was coming and let him speak. Underestimate Trump's instincts at your peril.

But it was great to see Cruz Edited on the party!

I think Cruz just committed political suicide within the Republican party. If he wanted to inform America that he will not support Trump because he insulted his wife and father, the convention was not the place to do that. He would have been better served to do this away from the convention. Cruz was not well-liked in the party to begin with and now he's doomed as a Republican.
