And now police shot at a protest rally in Dallas. Man, this mess is totally horrific and out of control. Two transit police shot, one dead. Local coverage seems more focused as the reports come in. I'm very familiar with the neighborhood (was down there at work yesterday) and the various reports on CNN and Fox on street locations are a little confusing. One CNN expert referenced Dealey Plaza and a restaurant district, both of which are not the immediate area. DART (transit police) reported four injuries and one fatality. Dallas PD reports 10 injuries and three fatalities. At 10:55, Channel 4 reports another officer shot in last 10 minutes. No assailants in custody. Press conference pending. Fox News is simulcasting Channel 4 which had the first word on fatalities.

Latest from Fox 4: Pipe bombs under investigation, reports of a civilian shot apart from the rally. As many as three suspects in play, one suspect may be cornered.
The person of interest's brother just got on Channel 11 and said he is not a suspect and was not carrying a loaded firearm. The police quickly asked him to talk to them.
DPD reports a fourth fatality. Not sure if this is DPD or DART.

Fox 4: Person of interest highlighted on social media has turned himself in. Still no confirmation on number of shooters. Another suspect taken into custody in a different part of downtown at a garage shootout. A suspicious package has been identified and is under investigation.
Update, for those following: The suspect at the garage has not turned himself in, and is exchanging active gunfire. The two people arrested at I-35 and Kiest (4 miles south) are suspects.

Despite the DPD claims that this is a lone gunmen, this looks to be the work of multiple people with military knowledge as some officers were shot in the back as if their attention was drawn to one location with shots coming from another location high above. Coincidentally this strategy would mirror the JFK Assignation Triangular Strategy of 1963, also in Dallas... JFK to 9/11 Everything Is A Rich Man's TrickThe cornered suspect has been killed after a long stand-off. The Police used a robot to drop a bomb near the suspect to kill him. Is this a usual police procedure to detonate a bomb to kill a suspect during a standoff?

Is this a usual police procedure to detonate a bomb to kill a suspect during a standoff? Yes, if a suspect had claimed to have set bombs throughout the garage. No chief is going to put more officers in that kind of danger if the police has other options.

So, how long before this Edited gets a call from the Secret Service? It appears as if a race war which some people have been advocating is at hand.

So, how long before this Edited gets a call from the Secret Service? Apparently Walsh's tweet has been retweeted out by Donald Trump, Jr. The Secret Service may/should be very busy. How far have we fallen as a society to have the events of the past week (Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights, Dallas) occur and we become almost numb to the news? How does the NRA spin the Dallas massacre. . .all of the police were armed, and yet we have fatalities and casualties. Clearly providing everyone with firearms is not the answer, no matter what Wayne LaPierre might say. It is all just too tragic and nauseating for words.

You might want to pick a different set of circumstances than what took place in Dallas upon which to base your anti-NRA rant.

So you agree that arming everyone prevents madmen from assassinating innocent people? I don't see any empirical evidence of that. And this is far from a rant. Believe me, kc, when I rant, you'll know it. You are correct in that I am not a fan of the NRA, but I don't see how they can oppose measures such as limiting accessibility of semi-automatic rifles (which were never intended for non-military use) and large magazines. The NRA's positive message (and there is such a message) is blunted by its blind adherence to its non-limitation of weaponry/non-limitation of ammunition position.

It appears as if a race war which some people have been advocating is at hand. I hit "Display Post" (I have thisjustin ignored) and immediately regret it. Never hit "Display Post". Micah Johnson 25 years old of Mesquite, TX has been verified as the shooter in the stand-off, who was blown up by Dallas PD. P.S.: Micah Johnson is a military veteran.

One man taking extremist actions because he is upset that a movement isn't doing enough isn't a race war. The media is doing a good enough job of blowing this sort of stuff up, no need to support the nonsense. We are in a time of peace but extreme actions get more recognition then ever due to social media and traditional media's need for new content. That is why I agreed with TC's statement that that post in particular was not worth the read...any race "war" talk is being blown out of proportion.

This is another incident that is incredibly sad but not completely unexpected to a degree. How the hell is this what is happening in 2016? We all want the same things. How is it that we can't focus on those commonalities as opposed to our many fewer differences? RIP to the fallen officers and condolences to their loved ones. What an awful, sad day. I try to keep hope that we're working to improve as a society but I don't know that I believe that we are.
