Alonzo Highsmith played footfall for the U. Yes, I confused the name of the football and basketball players. In any case, we've seen this before. Highsmith was a contributor.

Okay did I miss something here, why didn't the staff offer? We need another guard at a minimum and a true point guard would be perfect IMO.

SD,I'm dreaming of the day we actually recruit someone with the initials SRD and order counts so DSR doesn't count!

Any more word on this guy? The whole situation when it sounded like he committed and then did not have an actual offer was really strange. Is he still on the radar? I like the things they have done bringing in the Juco guard but this kid looks like a more traditional point guard who might be able to defend some of the ultra quick guards from other teams that gave us so many problems last year.

The weird thing about this was that the player made it seem like he had been offered and accepted and he is not some young high school kid who might misunderstand what was said to him. After 4 years in the service you would think he would be mature to the point he wouldn't go on social media and say something if he wasn't offered. Is the next signing period for recruits coming up in the next week or so?

I agree whole heartily that we need another guard, like bostonfan and DCSportsAstrologer stated, a guard that is instinctive and can defend the ultra quick guards that gave us trouble last year would be a plus. Unfortunately if we're going to stay in contention for Lykes we may ought to look at a fifth year transfer instead. But I did like what I seen of Denzel Hosch!

How he will do at the next level, in my opinion, is an unknown. We have enough youth and inexperience. We need a few really experienced addition to the roster. I am not saying pass on Lykes. It just seems like he is hedging his bet at this point, looking for a bigger stage, opportunity.

Although, if we cut and run at this point I can see us loosing ground in recruiting throughout the DMV. We have a few other kids we're after but we need to stay on Lykes and at least make it appear that he wanted to leave home rather then play on the Hilltop. We missed on half of the Villanova team and that's a hard pill to swallow letting talent go to your conference rival.

Could be that he's been offered a spot on the team as a walk on if he is accepted to Georgetown on the GI Bill.
*Pure speculation btw

It's not like he's drawing it out.

Well, let me put it this way: If I was Lykes, and Georgetown came calling, and given the gaping hole the team has right now, I would see my self as the franchise and grab the opportunity without hesitation. We are still Georgetown!

Lykes seems to be the number one priority, but if we lose out on him and ends up with a bunch of off guards that we think/hope can handle the point then we may end up in the same spot we were this year. Nothing wrong with having two legit point guards on a team. I realize they are getting close to maxing out the number of scholarships left so it is time to be creative and get a few kids to play the point or they may end up with no point guard again.
