What violations would he be talking about?

doesn't make much sense. It is a recruiting period right now, so it's not like his visit or receiving an offer is a violation. Pure speculation: confusion over whether or not Ft Hood's visit was kosher as a recruiting visit?

Well that cat is out of the bag. Not like he can say gotcha I never really went.
I don't understand he contussion. How can you not know if you have an offer? Did the staff say we are offering you a ride? Did you say yes I accept and did 3 say we would love to have you be a Hoya? If that didn't happen then you haven't been offered.
Now this is embarrasing.

We had this happen another time several years back, where a kid thought he had an offer, announced he was committing to Georgetown, and then shortly thereafter it came out that he didn't have an offer. I can't for the life of me remember the kids name. He was like a 6'5 wing from somewhere in the northeast, maybe somewhere in New England. Anyone remember his name? This is all sounding vaguely familiar to me, too, and it's killing me that I can't remember the name. Did a quick look through recruiting forums but couldn't find anything. Anyone with a better memory than me?

From his Facebook it sounds like he visited awhile ago and has known that he wanted to come here too given how much he posts about Georgetown. Also seems like a few other schools offered him but we might be the only D1 team. Regardless this flew so under the radar but its been in the works for longer than just the past week it seems.

What violations would he be talking about? It is a recruiting violation to talk to fans and boosters. It is important that we are careful about our contacts with these recruits.

Very good point - and the reason for the compliance thread tacked to the top of this forum: hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/24071/gu-compliance-information

What a bizarre situation all around. I am glad staff is considering all available options and working hard. Best of luck to Mr. Hosch.

Yup, this was about the time frame I was thinking of, definitely him: hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/19895?page=12013-14 MAC player of the year! Should have recruited him [ducks]

I briefly had the same thought when seeing how he turned out.... Interestingly enough around that same time period we flirted with and ultimately passed on another 6'7 forward who went on to be player of the year in his conference and an honorable mention All-American in Jamal Olasewere. Ironically the guy who we basically plugged into that scholarship slot was yet another slightly undersized power forward who would go on to be conference player of the year (twice) and an HM All American--just not for Georgetown (Benimon, of course). Interesting how we were in the mix with several similar players who all went on to have success at small schools--not to say any could have made much difference here as Jerrelle's time arguably demonstrated, as hungry as we were for good front court play in those years. But perhaps it does speak somewhat positively to JTIII's ability to identify guys who can play, even if none of them ever did Georgetown much good.

I played against him in high school and he was good back then but he got exponentially better in college. He couldn't shoot a lick and was solely a post player but then at UB he became a very reliable mid-range guy with versatility.

Does no one remember Alonzo Highsmith? I trust you mean Ronnie Highsmith who arrived one year after Army forward Clifton Dairsow.
