Just know that the game is 20 minutes from my house; I hate Nova with a blinding passion; I have a free pass to drink at will; and, I want no part of attending that game.
It may be very, very ugly.

I'm calling a W. One more Xavier-like game that makes us all go "Where the hell was this team all year?!" Followed by a loss to Depaul at MSG.

Nova looks to be firing on all cylinders, I'm sure we'll end up down early and then probably storm a comeback of sorts so I'll be watching.

If you're looking for a sliver of hope, the 2008-09 Hoyas, who were also a dumpster fire of a team, finished 7-11 in the Big East and lost 12 of their last 16. The four wins in the last two months of the season were over Rutgers (2-16 in Big East), South Florida (4-14), DePaul (0-18)... and a totally inexplicable win at the Wachovia Center on 2/28 over a #12 Villanova team that ended up going to the Final 4. EDIT: Pre- and In-Game Thread and Post-Game Thread. That team I think had a little more optimism around it, there was still discussion of an at-large bid up until we lost to St. John's twice in a week to end the season. As I recall, that team consistently found new and interesting ways to lose, like this team letting a guy run uncovered straight toward the basket with 5 seconds to play.

FWIW, predicting a sell out of 20K+ for Saturday. Students are on break, with classes resuming on Monday, so probably a mediocre student section. Lots of folks jumping on the bandwagon.

If we give the defensive effort we gave vs Villanova at Verizon we have a shot. That was our best defensive game of the year.

Will be making the trip up from DC. Any pregame festivities I should be aware of?

What goes down must come up? After a five game losing streak, its only logical we go on a five game winning streak through the BET to place us right back into the NCAAT.

I'll tell you what happens: we win Saturday. We beat DePaul. We blow out Nova. We win our semi. And then we lose by a point in the final when DSR gets called for a hand-check at half-court. First four out. (Or better yet, we lose when we're up a point with the ball with 30 seconds left, and we get called for a moving screen.)

No posts for 36 hours - stark commentary on the doldrums into which this season has plummeted.
We can do this. If Ike and Marcus continue to be confident, we have 4 potentially strong weapons, not to mention Jessie who should get less defensive attention, and hopefully take advantage. If we can just somehow improve our defensive performance for 40 (or at least 30?) minutes, we can be right there at the end.

It might not be much, but beating Villanova gets us the 7 seed if Marquette loses at Butler. That would give us a game against St. John's instead of DePaul, and it would also mean we would play Xavier instead of Villanova on Thursday. It's something to play for.
