There isnt a remote possibility we would end up in 3rd place in the same way BC would win the tourney. We have essentially the same conference record as 2 teams in the BE that are projected to make the tourney. That's the point. I think that's pretty pathetic. In fact, if we beat Butler, which we may well do, we would be ahead of them. Creighton has more BE wins than Providence and Butler. Iowa St is 8-7 because the 5 teams ahead of them are all going to make the tourney. Creighton and Gtown arent even going to come close. I will be rooting for the BE, but I think it's been a down year. Doesnt mean next year can't be better. The idea where we "could" finish is indicative of how good a team we have is silly. It is possible we could finish third, but it is highly improbable. And, under any scenario where we finish third, we defeat Butler, Marquette, and Villanova (away), which would actually probably be enough to get us close to the bubble, and maybe enough to get in with a quality BET win. My point is that while we've played horribly recently, despite even that, we aren't THAT far off the bubble simply because the bubble is very soft. Im not sure what you are responding to. You are not going to get an argument from me that we are not good. My point, as further validated by the crap fest Providence put up last night, is that BE aint that good this year. Not sure how people can make a convincing argument otherwise. The way to shut up detractors on that point, including me, is to make some good runs in tourney. I hope it happens, but as it stands now, it's not looking good. 3 of the teams may be double digit seeds.

Just finished watching the game on TV. The place was packed. 8,600 per the box score, so juuuuuuuuuuuust a little short of packed, though you'd be forgiven for thinking it was packed b/c apropos of our other thread, SHU has some serious curtain action going on at The Rock. Since they actually shut down the entire second level of the Pru Center, 8600 is probably at least 80% of capacity.

This is the best season that team has had in a decade (at least). They haven't even been to the NCAAs in something like seven or eight years. Hell, they haven't even had NIT teams most of that time. And here they are, in late February, playing a huge game -- a game against a very credible opponent (with two stars that should have walk-up appeal), and one that is big in terms of cementing their bid. And they can't even quite fill the bottom bowl of their arena.

Compared to Barclays it's night and day. - Location is bad. Newark is just the pits. Yes, it's close to SHU but not like you can walk there. - I know a few SHU fans and they are paranoid that any day their team is going to lose like 5 straight and miss the ncaas. Maybe that keeps them home? Talk about a team that has had some nightmarish seasons.

The comparison of Seton Hall and Georgetown is actually interesting, vis-a-vis basketball team support. Prudential Center is 4.3 miles from the Seton Hall campus in South Orange; Verizon Center is 4.0 miles from the Georgetown campus. Inarguably the journey from Georgetown to Chinatown is easier than the trip from South Orange to downtown Newark.
Seton Hall and/or the Rock have been hanging curtains upstairs for years now. While Prudential Center has a listed capacity of 18,500 for basketball, the reality is probably closer to 10,000-11,000 for the lower bowl alone.
Seton Hall's largest home attendance in Newark this season was for the Georgetown game (9,167), and their lowest was for an early season game against Troy (5,549). Georgetown has five games with larger attendance than the crowd drawn by Seton Hall for the GU game: Syracuse (18,231), Marquette (10,253), Villanova (15,535), Providence (14,481) and Xavier (10,652). Georgetown also has five games with lower attendance than Seton Hall's smallest crowd: Maryland-Eastern Shore (4,062), Brown (4,690), Monmouth (5,258), St. John's (5,369) and Seton Hall (5,278).
Student attendance figures would be very, very interesting.

Yeah, I personally think this stuff is exaggerated, and it relates to the BET discussion that is going on in the other thread, too. I don't think this is a very significant BE issue, it's just a basketball issue in general. Keep in mind there isn't exactly a hot market on the ACC tourney in DC. They will get good attendance for some games, but 18K seat arenas just aren't going to fill for any basketball games that aren't pretty significant. Let's just say we aren't going to be seeing 8 sellout next weekend for the ACC tourney. Unfortunately, some teams, like us and Seton Hall are forced to play in those arenas.

Seton Hall looking at a decent NCAA seed now after beating Xavier. Should end up no worse than 12-6 in the Big East.
Xavier losing hurts a bit, hard to see a path to a #1 seed now for the Musketeers absent running the table through the Big East Tournament.
Looking like potentially a 5-bid league with Providence and Seton Hall pretty much locks at this point and Butler probably on the right side of the bubble with one more regular season win and a BET win.

Guess Duke did not flop or trip enough to beat the Panthers.

Grayson Allen has a striking similarity to Coach K's two sons in that espn twitter commercial.
