What is a Nittany? Anyway, this meet at Penn State tomorrow will have just about all the men's and women's runners competing. Plus, so alumnae, who are hoping to get qualifying times for the Olympic trials (Rachel Schneider [who has the OT qualifying mark for the 1500m], Becca Deloache, and Chelsea Cox). All three spent time in Flagstaff for some altitude training this fall.
The only runner missing seems to be Sara Schmidt, our 800m recruit from Germany.

Andrea Keklak set the school record in the 1000m, breaking Rachel's record of just over 2:43. Rachel herself got a PR in the race, bettering her former school record.

women should be competitive for a top 3 NCAA DMR placing as coogan's 1000 time was pretty fast for 1 1500-5k runner too. Too bad we don't have any ncaa level 400 runners

Sara Schmidt has the capability to run a fast 400m leg. Only trouble is, she did not run at Penn State this weekend. Hope she is not injured. OR still on the team! Also, Sabrina did not run on Saturday, and she was listed in the heat lists before the race.

Meanwhile on the left coast the Washington Preview meet had this interesting result:
1 Dunbar, Trevor Nike 4:01.41 2 Solis, Dusty Big Bear Tc/ 4:01.48 3 Herrera, Daniel High Perform 4:02.12 4 Leibold, Collin Stanford 4:02.65 5 Kent, Justin CoastalTC 4:02.67 6 Bruchet, Luc Asics Canada 4:03.17 7 Shelley, Jake Big Bear Tc/ 4:04.31 8 Gorman, Daniel Halifast Athletics 4:05.98 9 Brewer, Chris Oregon 4:07.61 10 Peterson, Patrick Big Bear Tc/ 4:08.53 11 Giannino, Matt Unattached 4:09.22 -- Andrews, Myles Big Bear Tc/ DNF
It looks as if Collin might join the ranks of the sub-4 minute runners. If all our runners from last year remained with us, we could have had seven sub-4 runners on the team this year. Amos, Ahmed, and Mike are still here. Ryan Manahan and Collin Leibold have gone elsewhere (although Collin is running as a grad transfer). I think Darren Fahy and Cole Williams have a chance to go under 4 this year.
