And did get Iverson, Williams, Brown and others to the NBA. Brown? Fred didn't make it, neither did Joey. Either Williams (Reggie or Jerome) was a forward. I thought Fred Brown got drafted by Atlanta...no?? Also I considered Reggie Williams a combo who could play either SG or SF. But Reggie Williams could be switched out of the list for Floyd.

Maybe it's because they are different people and neither has finished rounding out their games yet? Players develop at different rates? They have different styles of play? So for this purported NBA prospect LJ Peak, who's halfway through his sophomore year, when can we expect him to round out his game? When can we expect him to fully develop? When can we expect him to lead his team to victory over NCAA powerhouses like UNC-Asheville, Radford, and Monmouth? You're right. I'm sorry LJ isn't a sure fire lottery pick a third of the way through his second year.

The Big East season starts for the Hoyas in less than 2 hours. Time for the discussion of recruiting spilt milk to move to that forum.

In the 8th (not a typo) round. And to my knowledge never played. Remembering that there are only two rounds now (and during III's tenure), you can't really count him. It would be different if he had made a team at some point. Otherwise a Chris Wright or an Austin Freeman or a Markel Starks may well have been drafted similarly.

Of the above list you provided what players do you feel match the nba profile at their position? Which I kids do you feel would have been pros if they went to another school? I think Wright and Starks would have benefited from a more up tempo, point guard centric offense. I think both did damn well here, and don't buy the argument that some other type of play would have "benefited" either. Starks went from "dear in the headlights" his freshman year to averaging over 17 pts per game as a senior, third highest season average, I believe, of the III era. Additionally, he increased his assist rate, ORtg, FTRate and FT% each of his 4 years here. His 300 assists rank him in the top 20, and Starks didn't see the court too much as a freshman, less than 10 mins per game. Starks developed tremendously here under this system, under this coach, IMO. Chris Wright ended his career #6 all time in assists at GU. 'Nuff said. I guess I will say that when we had Chris, I never worried about pressure. Just give him the ball and get out of the way.

Why are we crying over spilled milk? The only one of the three that I would want is Melo. Do we really believe that Hart and Bentil would have developed at GTown the way they have at their respective schools? Bentil becomes another Moses and Hart is at best a Brilly but probably more Bowen. Melo is a stud but it has been stated that it was a possibility not a certainty.
Also IMO, Peak is a better pro prospect that any of these 3 or even Ike. Peak has NBA athleticism and decent size for a 2G. Don't get so caught up in the way he is currently executing. I personally question how good Melo will be at the next level. The kid can shoot but he may not have the athleticism to consistently get himself open for clean shots. If you watch the NBA the GMs seem to want athletes that are quick and strong and between 6'2" and 6'6" at the guard position.

The point was that because player A becomes a stud at one school doesn't mean the same outcome occurs at another school. Agree to disagree...............

Hart was better as a freshman than senior Bowen or Jabril.

Hart was better as a freshman than senior Bowen or Jabril. POD I can't argue numbers but what I'm saying is simply there is a difference between Nova's O and GTown's O. Because Hart was able to green light his way to 8pt/gm as a freshman at Nova doesn't mean he would have even gotten off the bench at GTown. Hart wasn't as highly ranked as Ike and Ike was glued to the bench for the OOC schedule last year...............

Posters get upset, but the truth is some players will develop differently if they go to an offense different from Gtown's or with a different coaching mentality.

Actually he was drafted in the 9th round so 7 rounds beyond what they do in the current draft. If he played today he would be undrafted and not considered any type of serious NBA prospect...

No one is discounting his draft status. Look back at the thread. You said that JTII got Brown to the NBA. DFW said that Brown never made it. You said he was drafted. I said that was true but that he never played a game. DFW never said he wasn't drafted. The point is that being drafted where Brown waas and then not making the team is the equivalent today of being invited to join a summer league team and being cut before rosters are finalized. We have had plenty of players recently in that type of spot (or something similar) so using Brown as a means to compare JTII and JTIII doesn't make sense. That's all. Sure, he was drafted. But JTII got him to the NBA about the same as JTIII got Austin to the NBA (its just that the draft is different now).

OK cool I guess but Did u answer either question?? I thought I did... Both of these guys could get to the rim off the bounce. I think if they were in more traditional offense it would have enhanced their numbers and showcased their skills more as a facilitator to create for others with the dribble on drives and dishes. Enhancing their numbers and being an NBA talent are 2 different things. There's plenty of players that have great numbers that never sniff NBA.. You asked is it a failure to develop "NBA Talent" So are you saying those kids have NBA Talent, correct? Can you give me a player that you feel their games are similar too currently in the league? Also Chris averaged over 5 assists a game and the offense ran through him Senior year Here's a write up calling him the best pure point in the Dleague aside from K Marshall. Creating with dribble drives and dishes seems to be something he developed and it appears that's Not what's keeping him from an NBA shot, no? www.nba.com/dleague/news/prospect_watch_201213_week_seven.html

In the days when the NBA was eight, 10, even 20 rounds, players were selected as an invitation to try out, but with little chance of making the team. Given where Fred's knees were and his interest in law school, being selected 195th in the 1984 NBA draft was not, as I would suggest, "making it". Here were the number of players by round that made it to the NBA from that year: Round 1: 24 of 24 Round 2: 15 of 24 Round 3: 7 of 24 Round 4: 6 of 24 (One player played in more than 23 games) Round 5: 0 of 24 Round 6: 2 of 24 (Eddie Lee Wilkins made it six years, McKinley Singleton two games) Round 7: 2 of 24 (Ken Bannister played five years out of seventh round) Round 8: 0 of 24 Round 9: 1 of 24 (Lowest pick was Brian Martin, played eight games) Round 10: 0 of 24

Ok, I am reading ESPN and Josh Hart is in talks for Wooden award. The only thing that makes me madder than this season continuous fouling is Josh Hart. I am not sure of the back stories. Melo and Bentil, From what I read via recruiting info is that GTown was aggressively pursing Melo, Bentil. Just lost out. But Hart they passed on. Hart wanted to attend GTown. Its been said that they passed on him for Cameron. I think Josh totally fits the mold for this system. Every time I seem him play it makes me mad. One of the Hoyas biggest misses.
