Fellas. I am off the grid and need updates. Sounds like we were about to lay another egg but have been resilient. Who is leading us? Who looks good? Any stats would be appreciated. Think Monmouth light. UNCA is beating GU to the boards and the Hoyas continue to jack up bad outside shooting. White, Govan the best so far. Peak 3 early fouls; again, a non-factor.

White and Kaleb Johnson both look good. Cameron not so much. DSR has taken some bad shots. Normal defensive lapses. Peak had 3 quick fouls and didn't play much. 41-39 at the half.

Govan just executed a "Princeton" style play correctly, not just looking for a cutter, but first stepping into a space between two defenders, drawing the both, before passing to an open Kaleb for a layup. Sooooo often of the past few guys our bigs have tried that pass without getting the defense to commit first, leading to turnovers, so credit where credit is due on that one.

This team is the most glaring example I've ever seen of "the whole being less than the sum of its parts." Actually, I've seen it before. Plenty. But as a team, we have a ways to go.

UNC Asheville 5-10 from three point range; Hoyas 2-11 from three point range.

Kaleb Johnson imo looks good today. And most others look bad. I don't know why Hayes, Govan and DSR even came to the game today. Hayes and DSR in particular are playing lazy and disinterested.

Ok fair enough everyone jumping on me about White then why did he play him against Cuse, Brown, and Unc Will if he was at 75%? Isnt that him making the wrong decision and bringing him back to soon and thus hurting his recovery. Sorry cant have it both ways. Cannot applaud him for not playing him against monmouth and then ignoring he forced him into action too early. Which is it? You do realize with injuries it is possible for condition to vary game by game? For example, maybe White felt like he could go for Syracuse, but not for Monmouth? I am not sure why everything needs to be so over analyzed.

It's impossible that he retweaked an earlier injury, when everything seemed to be ok? C'mon, we have enough to complain about without this.

Sheesh! Thanks for the updates. Sounds like a frustrating game to watch. DSR sounds to have had a sub-par half and no one has mentioned Copeland. Where is he?

Not in the northeast... Can't get the 106.7 stream to work either, but sounds like I might be better off. Whatever you do, Dan, don't go to a bar that has MSG Network. Unless you want to drink heavily. Not to worry, the only sports I am watching today will be my daughter's high school hockey game this evening.

Defense lazy and slow for much of the half until we came back.

Are you the only one who doesn't realize Paul's been hurt, and maybe, just maybe, III thought it best not to risk losing him for longer by playing him too many minutes before he was ready? Isn't that the type of decision coaches have to make? Well, III made it. so, one minute would have been too much the other night because he didn't play at all. your theory is bunk. What good is one minute? All that's good for is risk of further injury. I'm glad you're not our coach.

PW's lack of defense offsets his contributions on offense.

The encouraging thing is that we totally dominated the boards the last 6 minutes or so of the half. If they can fix the defense the same way that they righted the rebounding, the Hoyas win going away. Big "if", though. Peak 3 fouls and once again, 2 of them weren't fouls. He's getting an undeserved rep from the refs, I think.

I guess I've seen it before, too. Half the Hoyas teams for the last decade. Although I've recognized his faults, I've always been pretty firmly in a pro-JTIII camp. It's getting a lot harder to justify at this point. We have high-level talent up and down the roster, and we can't figure out UNC-Asheville.

Difference maker in this game has been the zone defense. We are our strongest when we play man-to-man. Too young and inexperienced to legitimately run the zone.

Well it has been pretty sad really. Peak hits a 3 early and then gets 3 fouls and sits most of the half. DSR has been largely invisible as has Copeland. Cameron is off, Tre was poor and the two posts have until the last couple of minutes played very softly on the interior. We are again not rebounding and not playing defense. It is no longer easy to explain. This team cannot put away a mid-major that is considerably shorter. On a positive note, White has played his best ball of the year and Johnso n has been strong. Overall it is another major disappointment with literally no defense and no resemblance to the energy level we saw against Duke or Syracuse. Someone needs to light a fire under this team or else this season will be lost before it really begins.
