My heart goes out to those who have suffered or lost dear ones to the terror in Paris.

My condolences to those who lost loved ones. Just awful.
I was in Paris last month and ate at a restaurant called Le Mary Celeste literally a block away from the Bataclan. Scary to think about.

The older I get, the less I understand the world in which I live. Condolences and sympathy to all affected.

Damn. My brother just returned last week. Scary. Thoughts and prayers for those families.

Anthony Cordesman, of the non-partisan Center for Strategic & International Studies, is one of the most outstanding analysts and writers regarding international relations, security and threats. Below is a link to his take on the attacks in Paris and what can and can’t be done about them. He shares his sobering view of the long-term big picture about the battle for the future of Islam, the rapid population growth of Muslims, the poor governments and history of economic development (or lack thereof) and the troubling outlook for the future. There are no easy or obvious answers, no short term solutions. Personally, I believe the Paris attacks (along with those in Lebanon and the Russian airliner) are likely to be a game changer for how the west -- and maybe Russia too -- is dealing with ISIS. csis.org/publication/paris-isis-and-long-war-against-extremism
