Twas the night 'fore the season, and all through the board
Not a poster was posting an unpleasant word
The schedules were hung by the flat screens with care
In hopes the Sweet Sixteen would find us all there
The posters were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Final Four danced in their heads.
DFW in Texas and Dan up in Boston
Were figuring what going to Houston would cost 'em.
When out on the board there arose such a clatter
Dan sprang to his keyboard to check out the chatter
He opened a window on HoyaTalk Forum
And watched to make sure we all heeded decorum.
Away to his laptop he tottered and creaked
Though he tried to be careful, his hamstring he tweaked.
The glow of the screen gave an aura so bright
His eyes could not focus well, try as he might.
When what did he see? Was it imagination?
A post that just ran on, without punctuation.
From a little old poster, so lively and quick -
He knew in a moment it had to be lic!
More rapid than eagles his many posts came
And he took the time to call each Hoya by name.
Now LJ, Now Isaac, Now both of the Tre(y)s,
Now DSR - pass it to big Bradley Hayes.
On Marcus, On Kaleb, On Jessie - the frosh.
We know that they won't play like newbies, by gosh.
And Reggie and Paul - even Riyan and Akoy
We know that your efforts will fill us with joy.
To the top of the key, To the foul line extended.
Run the offense (not Princeton) so it can't be defended.
As moments before the first tipoff they cheer,
The fans will be with you each game of the year.
When out on the court for their warmups they stride
With a bag full of balls - and the staff by their side.
As Dan grows more tired, the hour more late
One post, then another about a growth plate.
A bundle of smileys he adds to each thread
And often the others aren't sure what he said.
His posts- how they twinkle! His sayings - great fun!
Like "eat the banana" and "win by just one".
There may be a few strands of gray in his hair.
But oh! What incredible passion is there.
So now as another great season begins
A year full of angst - but we hope many wins.
One last word from lic, as he laces his Chucks -
"Hoya Saxa to all" - oh, and Syracuse still sucks.
