"The non-conference schedule begins with a weekend in Florida. The Hoyas will face NCAA qualifier Florida Gulf Coast on Aug. 28."

I used to think that watching soccer was like watching grass grow. I watched the womens' national teams win their last two matches and I am now Impressed.

Sky If you haven't watched the Hoya men, you are in for a treat. The last several years they have played the most attractive soccer I have found outside of Barcelona. It is very attractive, attacking, skillful play. And the best defender in the NCAA plays for the Hoyas - Yaro.

The women got out man handled by Penn State and were physically smaller. The men looked like a well tuned machine, too bad they are in the BE

Glad to hear that there is a bit of interest on here. I wished I lived closer to campus or that they played more game closer to me!

There is a lot of great soccer on the east coast and mid-west Chicago....so I plan to hit the Depaul game, but the next closest looks like Xavier in Cincinnati.

Quote from TopDrawerSoccer article...
"For the best player overall in college soccer, Jordan Morris beat out Joshua Yaro for the honor with only a few more votes than the defender. It was a large gap between second and third, but there were still other players who received votes including Abu Danladi (UCLA), Freddy Ruiz (UAB), Arun Basuljevic (Georgetown), Bradley Bourgeois (Tulsa), Fabian Herbers (Creighton), David Graydon (Saint Louis), and Michael Gamble (Wake Forest). "
2 Hoyas included out of 9 named. Georgetown is turning into a men's soccer school.

Look at the result of a very modest investment in physical infrastructure and the message it sends to top high school talent......as Lacrosse and Football continue to wallow in disappointing season after disappointing season in front of smaller and smaller crowds sitting in the "temporary" bleachers now a decade old. Good for Men's soccer. Think it must be considered a growth NCAA sport so its nice to see GU be able to do something on the national stage beyond bball. It slays me that the Athletic Dept managed to post a photo of this nice new facility that manages to crop out the entire facility. Yes, people know what a grass soccer field looks like. Maybe the seating portion might have been more informative? Or are we trying not to draw attention to the fact that there is another nearby stadium effort entering its second decade of delay? Not even Google produces a single image of the stadium. Our press people could teach NSA a thing or two about keeping projects under wraps. www.guhoyas.com/facilities/gu-north-kehoe-field.html

DFW- where are those top secret photos of Shaw Field anyway? Has McDonough purged them entirely from the interwebs?

Hoyas ranked #3 in the NSCAA pre-season poll.
I thnk we need to face the fact that Georgetown is presently a men's soccer school.

It is a men's soccer power. Coach Wiese has built a remarkable program that does not rebuild but reloads.

Excellent! And three Big East teams in the top 10 (and 4 in top 20). Women are 25th.

It is a men's soccer power. Coach Wiese has built a remarkable program that does not rebuild but reloads. Three big reasons: 1. Scholarships. They make a huge difference. Keith Tabatznik's teams had a lot of heart but not always the talent level of nationally prominent squads--Coach Wiese has leveraged scholarships to elevate Georgetown far beyond where most would have dreamed (outside Mike Dunne, of course.) Were that Georgetown was more forward thinking about scholarships than it is. 2. Coaching. It's key in college soccer. Were it not for the Shaw gift and GU's commitment to scholarships, Coach Wiese would have probably be at Notre Dame or Stanford by now. 3. Talent. Joshua Yaro is a legitimate candidate for the Hermann Trophy. He's that good. Looking forward to how GU replaces Tomas Gomez in the net.
