To clarify, what I wrote was not meant to be taken seriously but was merely a response to Big Dog's speculative post, in the nature of "hey if we are all speculating here, I'll throw out my own speculative guess, too."
That being said, considering that the board has a thread entitled "Patrick Ewing Jr. SPECULATION" for cryin' out loud, there appears to be some selective editing going on. Just because the PE thread "usually have cited or followed-upon internet sites announcing his departure from IU" doesn't make it any less speculative. It just means more people (including those in the media) are speculating.
Time to move on......

how did my post get smote from existence?
And now, Big Dog has reiterated his point that he thinks Bobo is gone so it is really a defeated attempt to censor WBH...i

Come on guys. We all know the rules and that we should abide by them, particuarly when it comes to transfers or early departing hoyas. Lets grow up, stop whining, and follow the rules.

The PE2 speculation is based on a publicly available internet-announcement that PE2 is leaving IU. The posts which I deleted said, "X player is gone," "Y player is gone," "Hey, if we're all speculating, I say Z player is gone." No substantiation. No announcements. Not even a "my second cousin's girlfriend's sister-in-law twice removed overheard a conversation in Leo's that W player might be leaving." Not that a post like that would suffice either!

You're doing good work, WBH. I think the justification was pretty clear.

Using the same logic, the BB speculation posted by Big Dog also is "based on publicly available internet announcements" that BB has applied for the NBA draft (Washington Post, GUHoyas.com, HoyaTalk.com, ESPN.com to name a few). Seemingly, the Big Dog post is therefore not "ungrounded" and I don't see how it violates Rule 11. OK, I'll move on too.

Jersey - did you put your knee pads on before that post? hoops, you are out of control. I don't understand your fascination with homoerotic images and dickering with the moderators. Find something else to do.

Yeah, I'll take advice on what I should to with my time from the guy with 2000 posts. As for the fasciniation with homoerotic images, I'm not sure what you are talking about. And I don't dicker with moderators, or any other dude for that matter. hm

WBH misread my post, and in a fit of stubbornness, refuses to admit that it was a mistake. I think that's obvious to everyone now.
Lord forbid we err on the side of expression over censorship. What lunacy.

I agree with Angus here. I can perfectly well understand the editing of posts which speculate as to the potential transfer of a player. On the other hand, Bowman's situation is common knowledge, based on fact and publicly available information, so I think it was overzealous to edit Big Dog's Bowman post along with the others. I don't see how Big Dog's post violated the cited rule, or how leaving it in place would have resulted in rampant speculation beyond that which has already occurred in a different thread.
But in any event, it's not the end of the world, and I think everyone should get over it.
Oh, and we all know how hoops likes to get down! ;D

As for the fasciniation with homoerotic images, I'm not sure what you are talking about. haha, you can stop playing dumb. I think he was referring to the post where you asked him "Did you put knee pads on before that post." I am pretty sure it is clear what you were inferring, which would be homoerotic. Now whether or not you have a "fascination" like that guy on arrested development who uses homoerotic phrases compulsively I dont know.

WBH misread my post, and in a fit of stubbornness, refuses to admit that it was a mistake. I think that's obvious to everyone now. Lord forbid we err on the side of expression over censorship. What lunacy. Classic. I misread YOUR post!?! Let me quote it in its glorious entirety one more time: "I think BB is gone." End of post. No mention of the draft (yes, everyone knows that's what you MEANT but it's not what you WROTE!). Sandwiched between two posts which were gross speculations about individual players transferring out (one of which even said something to the extent of, "While we're speculating..."). Censorship is about stifling ideas. This whole thing was about respecting athletes' privacy and not fomenting rampant speculation about student-athletes at GU. No glorious thoughts, brilliant insights, or poetic expression were affected. Get over yourselves. I am hereby locking this moronic thread.
