Mods - we need a "Big East off season news" thread for info that is not about Georgetown.
Oh, wait . . . (kidding YaBoy, kidding).

From Nova board: On a side note, we heard that Nova will be playing Maryland in a closed door scrimmage in the next couple of weeks. Trimble vs. Brunson; Stone vs. Ochefu. Top preseason ACC team vs. top preseason BE team. Wish they'd sell tix to that one. Hoping someone can get a recap of that one to gauge where both teams are. I'll make book for anyone who wants to put some money down on Maryland winning the ACC.

Nova looks pretty balanced. The Nova-GU games will be huge and a hot ticket.

Brilliant! Kevin Sutton's piece on Timeouts and bench procedure. Leave nothing to chance. Be organized. Pays big dividends in the heat of battle. Thanks for posting YaBoy!

It's going to be interesting to see SVP doing a live Sports Center grouchy and annoyed having to interview JT3 and DSR after his Twerps lose at home to the Hoyas!

Sports Illustrated BIG EAST Preview "This is D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera's team, and the senior guard is so talented that he can carry them entirely by himself against the bottom half of the conference. The question is how a young, versatile frontcourt led by former top-25 recruit Isaac Copeland and incoming super-recruits Jessie Govan and Marcus Derrickson spells Smith-Rivera from time-to-time, and provides this roster with the balance it will need for a postseason run. The Hoyas might have the most talented team in the Big East".
SI predicts a 12-6 BE record tied with Xavier. They have Villanova with a 14-4

NBC College Basketball BIG EAST Preview 2. Georgetown: John Thompson III will rely on up to seven freshmen and sophomores. Isaac Copeland, L.J. Peak, Paul White and Tre Campbell were all part of the rotation as freshmen. First-year big men Jessie Govan and Marcus Derrickson both had impressive outings in the Hoyas’ summer trip. The return of D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera will Georgetown as the underclassmen develop over the course of the season.
D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Georgetown: The key piece on a team loaded with talented underclassmen, the 6-foot-3 Smith-Rivera did it all for the Hoyas last season. The first-team all-conference selection averaged 16.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
