Agree re: UNC / Duke. All transition points, few foul calls. That last play where Jones drove left for an open layup, Winslow completely bear hugged and held the man he was setting a pick on.
That being said, there was some real talent on that court. Jones is so quick with the ball, Okafor is a beast, Winslow has a quick first step too and Cook can shoot and plays good defense. We'd lose badly to both of those teams unfortunately.

Vegas would make the game versus UNC a pick em, but we'd get run out of the gym.

Was watching that Duke-UNC game and imagining what would be said around here if the Hoyas made the bone-headed plays that either team made. Agreed that there is a LOT of talent between those two teams but, man, their execution was awful.
Jones is a stud and basically won that game for Duke. Okafor seemingly can't be stopped when he puts his mind to it but his FT shooting is absolutely embarrassing.

Meh, there is a lot of talent on both of those teams, but agree with others that they are ripe to be upset. Roy Williams has pretty much given up on coaching. Im pretty sure he left TOs on the table in an OT game. All they do is run up and down the floor, and Duke plays ZERO zone defense, or really nothing other than man to man. They were completely gassed and Coach K made no adjustments. Roy Williams also, inconceivably, stopped double teaming Okafor during the most important stretch of the game!
That game was fun to watch, but it will be no way reflective of how tourney games will be played or officiated. That said, if Duke hits their 3s they are extremely dangerous.

Vegas would make the game versus UNC a pick em, but we'd get run out of the gym. UNC is a bad 3 point shooting team and loves to run up and down the floor. That begs for different zone looks. We, or any team not named Duke, would play zone defense and dare them to hit jumpers in a half court offense. I fail to see why we'd be run out of the gym. I dont think you need to be particularly great in a zone defense when the other team has 1 decent 3 point shooting player (Paige), and you take care of the ball on offense.

To their credit, UNC doesn't try to shoot threes, either. They stick to what they do well, run and hit the O boards.

With our 3 point defense being our weakest defensive attribute, IDK how anyone would prefer to play Duke over UNC. Neither are good defensive teams so I'd take my chances against the less effective offense.

They were completely gassed and Coach K made no adjustments. Not to defend Hypokritzki, but what adjustments was he gonna make for his gassed players? This guy? This guy?

"But if they only got more playing time during the cupcake part of the schedule, they could play a meaningful role! Just look at how Georgetown uses Hayes!" (ducks and runs)

Agreed. Unlike Pitt, Miami, Iowa and North Carolina State, we don't have the ... coaching to hang with Duke or UNC. Wow. Jamie Dixon? Jim Larrañaga? Fran McCaffery? Mark Gottfried?

We would fair better versus Duke than UNC. UNC's frontcourt is very talented but they are inconsistent. When UNC is motivated and playing at least their B game, I do not think we could handle them. Duke on the other hand is very beatable because they play lousy defense. They give up so many high % looks and their rebounding is questionable. They rely too much on jump shooting to win. This makes them very beatable outside of Cameron. Honestly, I would have no fear of seeing Duke in our bracket. Bull

Not that there aren't some good teams but all of the ACC teams are beatable on any given night. Heck, the Johnnies stuck with Duke until the last 5 minutes of the second. And their coach is garbage.
