Strengths: Hollins is one of the more promising wing-types out west. The willowy scorer can score from all three levels, but he is at his best when shooting the 3-point shot. He can nail the 3-point shot off the catch or convert his jump shot in transition. His release is quick and he has a nice arch on his shot. He can attack off the bounce and finish with either hand and he is not afraid to mix it up inside and rebound. In transition he is quite explosive and can easily finish above the rim.
Weaknesses: Hollins needs to get considerably stronger. While attacking defenders he easily gets bumped off his path and he struggles scoring through contact. In addition, he needs to get on balance while exhibiting his mid-range skills. Establishing a jump stop before rising up for his shot, should improve his efficiency.
Bottom Line: Hollins is one of the most improved prospects in his class on the west coast. The lengthy wing-type needs strength and continued skill development, but the physical tools are there to be a solid Division I player. This is what I like to see from the staff, I hope other kids are put on the radar soon.. This is the direction that I was going in with Trevell Beck from Central Catholic High Cleveland, OH and Jordan Cross from Millwood, VA in one of my earlier post on Jan 15th. I would really like to see us on another tall guard SG/SF type. With Waters at point next year combined with Mulmore and Mosely we'll have the speed and defense needed to get through the BE.

A couple of 2017 kids that have been mentioned in this thread before..
2017 prospect Jacob Epperson emerged playing with AUSA Hoops, an Australian travel team program, during this past July evaluation periods. Since, Epperson has moved to La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere and the moves appears to have been beneficial. Epperson played with a different level of confidence than we’ve seen in the past. On offense, Epperson was aggressive when he had opportunities. He connected on jump hooks and hit a number of short and mid-range shots. Epperson also was an active presence on the glass and looked to protect the rim. Epperson is still in need of weight/strength, but his game appears to be coming together.
Recruiting: Creighton, Texas, Toledo & Utah
2017 forward Sandro Mamukelashvili had the strongest performance I've seen from him since arriving in the United States over the summer. The native of Georgia was active and aggressive on both ends of the floor. At 6-foot-9, Mamukelashvili has the ability to step out and on the floor and make plays, but this was the most active I've seen him around the basket. He went to the glass, ran the floor and in general just played hard. Mamukelashvili, a southpaw, is equipped with good hands and touch and is capable of making a jump shots from mid-range out to three.
Recruiting: Indiana, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, USC, SMU, Villanova, Boston College, Rhode Island & South Carolina

Villanova type; would be a good get. GU would be noticeably tougher if they added him and with the DC product coming in.

After watching more clips of him I can definitely see the Clark comparison.. The road back to respectability needs to begin on the recruiting trail..

www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/college/memphis-tigers/basketball/2017/02/21/tigers-take-recruiting-trail-hoping-late-addition/98192358/Interesting article on late season recruiting.. These are the dynamics Memphis is navigating as it simultaneously finishes Coach Tubby Smith’s first season and searches for players to bolster next year’s team through college basketball’s late signing period. There are a limited amount of quality prospects remaining and plenty of schools chasing after them.
Though the Tigers already have three players signed for their 2017 recruiting class, they also have at least one scholarship available for the 2017-18 campaign. It could be more depending on whether sophomore Dedric Lawson leaves for the professional ranks and forward Chad Rykhoek receives a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA after this season. Regardless, Smith plans to bring in reinforcements, whether it’s an incoming freshman, a junior college transfer or a graduate transfer.
So following last Thursday’s loss at Connecticut, Smith and assistants Joe Esposito and Saul Smith did not return with the team to Memphis. Instead, they were out canvassing the Eastern seaboard, from Massachusetts to North Carolina to Florida, for late additions. The Zhaire Smith kid referenced to start the article is another kid who looks the part & has started to get a lot of attention, they'll be more & more of these kids popping up over the coming months.. www.hudl.com/video/3/3726732/589ea20b02b1c61548e63491The dunk at the 1:40 mark is ridiculous..

Watched Putnam Science last night. Most likely target if it's 17's is Eric Ayala, a class of 18 guard who might re-class to 17, or the big kid Malik Ondigo.. If they are looking at kids from B&M, most likely the target would be A.J. Reeves. Top 100 6'5 SG 18' 2015 vid AdamFinkelstein Adam Finkelstein Northwestern head coach Chris Collins will be at Brimmer & May (MA) to see A.J. Reeves today.

Any idea who the targets are to fill the 2 open spots for next year? I assume the grad transfer market could possibly fill 1 but you'd think we'll sign 1 more 17 kid, right?

Time to hit the recruiting trail.

1 shooter, please, for last '17 recruit. 6'2 - 6'4, Dead eye.
No other skillset or national ranking required.
Do whatever you can in the Grad/transfer markets to augment rebounding/scoring/ball handling, but get me somebody who will shoot 45% from 3 at least 1 season in blue and gray.

Agree with the need for a shooter...but not just a one dimensional type...instead a complete player/athlete who is a very good shooter (like the kid from Butler...Kammron?)...I'm really hoping that LJ comes back...we really need him to lead us next year...also, could use a prolific shot blocker to complement Jessee. In addition, our guys (especially bigs) need to get into a bigtime strength/conditioning program...

Am I to infer from this that JT3 will be back next year?

Here's a write up from last year, looks like he re classes to 2017.. Isaac Kante PF, Paul Robeson '16- It's easy to look at Kante's numbers and say he is having one of the best individual seasons in the PSAL this season, but when you look deeper you see a player who does a bit of everything. He is a great passer out of the post, seeing the double teams and making smart decisions to get the ball to the perimeter for open teammates and good looks from the outside. Kante's midrange jumper has really developed as the season has gone on, and as the #10 seed, the Eagles are in a position where they will have to win on the road to advance, but with Kante's all-around abilities that is certainly a very good possibility to happen.

From February article on New England Recruiting Report: Isaac Kante has been arguably the most consistent member of the trio from start to finish this season. He pulled in a Kansas State offer early, also claimed a recent DePaul offer, and has a host of mid-major suitors as well. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/best-available-bigs-1

Ugh. I like that he seems to be productive, and not just a projected talent. But oh man... the size? The position? The style of his game? Have we not learned anything?
