In women's basketball. It's obviously not nearly as exciting as it would be in men's, but it's still cool and sounds great for our women's program. Looks like Coach Williams Flournoy is doing a great job building the program and hopefully this can help create more support. I found a pic from last years all Met selections, she's standing in front of Jeff Green! www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/hssports/longterm/allmets/winter04/basketball.htmI found out about this from the post made by HoyaBliu on the Georgetown Sports board and asked him to repost his info here, I thought this was deserving of the main board, even if most people don't care about women's ball.

I was just watching ESPN today, and they were showing the girls mcdonald's high school all-american game. One of our incoming freshmen actually played in the game. She didn't have that great of a game, or atleast the half i saw. But the commentators were really high on her, saying how she'll be a really big presence in the big east next year. She was extremely fast for a center. They also talked a bit about georgetown, the new coaches, and how quickly the program is improving. I don't know much about the girl's team historically, but I don't imagine that we've signed many all-americans in the past. Looks like the new coach is already making an impact.
from the post: " • HIGH SCHOOLS: Theodore Roosevelt center Katrina Wheeler, who will be the only Washington area player to appear in the McDonald's All-American girls' game Wednesday, has unofficially committed to play for Georgetown, her father, George Wheeler, said.
The 6-foot-4 Wheeler helped lead the Rough Riders (23-3) to their second consecutive D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association title this past season, averaging 12 points, 17.9 rebounds and 6.5 blocked shots."

Where did you get that 12 pts per game average? I did some research on her and the site I checked out had the same rebounding and block averages but over 17 ppg.

It's good for the program, even though not too many people on campus care much about the women's team, maybe this will help things change. If nothing else its something good for us to promote to improve general campus spirit.
BTW, Jeff's Bone Thugz and Harmony look in that picture is cray-zeh.

That's Great News!!!
If the coach can get a "Lock" on this area, then the ladies should be fine.

I hope next year both the men's and women's teams make the tourney and do some damage!
This is a big step in the right direction for the women's program. Congrats Coach!
