As long as Donovan doesn't give the ol' "run face first into Josh Smith's elbows" tip to Self on the way out of Phog Allen, I'll be happy regardless of the outcome tonight.

Let's just say that this was not a very impressive second half by Florida. They went scoreless for 5:38 down the stretch, and clearly ran out of gas. Not that Kansas looked all that good. I'm not that sure that the Jayhawks come back in this game if it were on a neutral court instead of Allen Fieldhouse, let alone as an away game. Look forward to seeing how KU does against the Hoyas.

On a related note, why do I find Jay Williams so irritating other than the fact that he went to Duke? He, seemingly, does his homework. Is it just the Duke thing? The fake smiling bothers me but that's not enough to merit my level of irritation. Maybe its because he's a bit of a blowhard and all he really states is the obvious.

I see him and I want to see him draw a charge from Jabril. That part is a personal problem in all likelihood.

And when was the last time an Ivy League school defeated a defending National Champion? Tonight. Yale 45, Connecticut 44 at Storrs just went final. Per ESPN, the answer is: 1996, when 13-seed Princeton upset defending champion 4-seed UCLA in the first round of the NCAA tournament at the RCA Dome. Unclear if it ever happened prior to that. Notably, that is a Tournament in which the Hoyas went undefeated. Their season simply ended, inexplicably, after they squared off against a giant Calipari-shaped asterisk in the Regional finals.

'96 still stings. But not as much as '89. Those teams were good enough to win National Championships. I want that again.

Seton Hall is really taking it to Rutgers right now. After falling behind 6-0, the Hall is on a 35-11 run with under eight minutes left in the first half. RU has already had two ten-second violations bringing the ball up court, including one after a timeout. Isaiah Whitehead is VERY impressive.

At the half, Seton Hall leads Rutgers 47-25. The Hall is shooting almost 60% from the field. Not sure if the Hall is that good, but I'm certain that Rutgers is that bad.

Elsewhere, Michigan leads New Jersey Institute of Technology at the half, 32-27; Highlanders have shot over 60% from the field, but have no free throw attempts and no second-chance points (largely because they have no offensive rebounds). Wisconsin has an early 12-7 lead at Marquette eight minutes into the first half.

Upset in Ann Arbor! The only D-1 school without a conference affiliation, New Jersey Institute of Technology, with a 2-6 record coming in, knocks off #17 Michigan at Crisler, 72-70. Highlanders shot 58% from the field and 64% from three-point range for the shocker.

Elsewhere for the Big East, Villlanova leads St. Joseph's by 20 at the half, and Seton Hall coasted in the second half to an 81-54 romp over Rutgers. Marquette struggling against Wisconsin in the second half, 31-25 with eleven minutes left in the second half.

Seton Hall romped, and Isaiah Whitehead had his breakout game. SHU is going to be a factor in the BE.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the BE has it's own "breakout season" this year? A tough assignment for sure, but there have been some very promising signs already. It would be great for college hoops.

Wisconsin, in an unimpressive road win, downs Marquette 49-38.

NJIT over #17 Michigan... It was a typical Georgetown-in-NCAAs game with the compass/directional school playing lights out.
