Last year, Nova lost to the national champion, but did so at a point at which it was considered a huge upset so it looked bad for the league (somewhat similar to our loss to Davidson). Nova has lost to the eventual National Champion in 5 of their last 9 NCAA appearances--from 2005-2009 it was actually 4 of 5 appearances. UCONN last year was probably the unlucky one, since it was the only time it happened prior to the second weekend. Just one of those quirky stats--like how we've been in the same region as Kansas in our last five NCAAs but still haven't met.

How is UNC ranked #12 when we are unranked. EaccSPN busy at work here.

Creighton is in trouble. . .12:59 to play, and Tulsa leads 50-41. On the other hand, Villanova on cruise control, leading LaSalle 47-21 at the half.

Wow. I guess the Tar Heels were busy studying for finals. Who had Iowa winning this game?

Also, correction on the 'Nova score: Wildcats at the half leading 47-29.

How is UNC ranked #12 when we are unranked. EaccSPN busy at work here. Preseason rankings, as always, mean something. It means that teams that aren't that great get a head start at the beginning of the year that never really goes away in a conference like the ACC with very little parity. Why the rankings start before the season, outside of stoking interest, makes little sense. Some teams, as they always are, will be buoyed by their rankings going into the year at the expense of other teams that didn't get the same consideration before the first tip was decided. It's great when your team is on the right side of that farcical evaluation and hot garbage when your team isn't.

Not to mention that someone should remind them that they have multiple channels on which to broadcast. They should be blitzing their college sports coverage. Not limiting it.

The Creighton game is being streamed online at espn.go.com, but don't waste much time looking for it. . .Tulsa by 14 with under 90 seconds left.

Probably some contractual requirement to include women's hoops in the Big East coverage. December a good time to do it.
