The JRT Center is not a basketball-only facility. It's not, but has plenty of basketball only space. I actually think it's a good thing it's not basketball only, as our kids like hanging with other athletes too From an optics (and political) perspective, I also think it would have been entirely unfeasible for Georgetown to build a basketball-only facility. The facility is worth significantly more when it is shared with other athletes. But, make no mistake about it. Does anybody seriously think this would be in the process of getting built without basketball? No way.

Competition for Gibbs is fierce. Pretty sure half the BE is heavily recruiting him: Us, St. John's, Seton Hall, Providence.

He's a local kid who goes to Seton Hall Prep, and his older brother has already played there.

His brother's experience at Seton Hall, under Kevin Willard, is exactly why Seton Hall will not have a shot at Temple Gibbs. A lot of Pirates followers were surprised that Sterling Gibbs didn't bail out of South Orange at the conclusion of last season; he clearly feels an obligation to the underclassmen, something which his younger brother will not.

Correctomundo NJ. Re: Transfering out post-season? Remember, Gibbs started at Texas before transferring to SHU and sitting out a year. Not sure what the rules are about transferring twice. Maybe he could be a fifth year transfer and be eligible right away if he's graduating after the four years he has spent in college? I don't know the ins and outs of the rules re: Multiple transfers. But SHU started out great last year, then 5 star recruit Whitehead got hurt. SHU kept winning with Gibbs as the leader of the team. When Whitehead returned from injury he wanted to take over the leadership role, but he was playing poorly at the time. They'd been looking great and winning with Gibbs leading the way. Then the whole thing crashed and burned. Whitehead's "posse" gave Frosh guard Jaren Sina such a hard time he quit the team. SHU was 13-3 at one point, then lost 12 of 15 - including 9 of last 10. Not pretty. There is no way Temple is going to follow his brother into that quagmire.

I don't recall just how close Sterling Gibbs is to graduating; I remember some discussion, especially in the aftermath of Sina's abrupt departure, that Gibbs might be in a position to do what Matt Carlino did (start at one school, i.e. UCLA, transfer to a second school and get one's degree, i.e. Brigham Young, and then transfer as a fifth year player to a third school, i.e. Marquette). It may be that he is in that position as well, but decided to stay at The Hall. He and Sina were roommates, and Sina's treatment definitely affected him.

Notre Dame will conduct an in-home visit with 2016 New Jersey Playaz (NJ) guard Temple Gibbs tonight. He also has VCU & St. John's setup.

YaBoy I was wondering the exact same thing. Powell has been putting up better numbers so he should be someone they keep tabs on as well.

Pretty much everybody except St Johns fans because they think they will land every recruit Mullin breathes on. Uconn folks also think they have a descent shot but think ND is most likely fwiw... I've never seen the Powell kid justl curious about his status. His eybl numbers are impressive, 42 percent from 3 20ppg

Ooof, this is another example of how postseason success can translate into recruits. This is the type of player ND rarely gets, yet they are clearly getting a boost from winning the ACC tourney, being ranked all season, and getting to the elite eight (and playing UK well).
Recruiting is based on many factors, but the bottom line is the last time we recruited highly recruited guards. We were coming off two BE championships (regular and tourney), a final four, and a year of strong rankings. Recruits, more often than not, pick the hot teams.

That is the summary of the strategic conflict within our player strategy...

Not to be a "butinsky", but my sarcasm detector was clanging loudly - like those old German UBoats in WWII movies - when I read AltoSaxa's post. Maybe a recalibration is in order.
