Unfortunately, I too have heard this from an excellent source. No JJjr for us. With legacies, it seems you never really win a recruiting battle -- they know all about the school already, so either they are amped to go there or else it's not a big deal where dad went, and they usually want to blaze their own trail somewhere else. I think we have some very good assistants now, so I hope they can pull in somebody just as good. Quality recruiting at the forward position has been a pretty consistent strength over the JT3's tenure, and I'm hoping it continues. Just a little bummed because I would have liked to have seen Jaren Sr. at our games!

Look at the bright side. We will never see this kid go 0-10 in a regional final.

If these rumors are true, this is the worst development in Hoya recruiting in years. Disaster.

Hopefully the negativity of this and other sites about the chances for Jackson coming to the hilltop plays no part in the final decision. The kid is a quality player. His father was a solid contributor to the program's history both as a player and a student who graduated with a degree in finance. He came back to the school as an assistant and was not retained by the current coach when the Esherick era ended, contrary to what the Georgetown Basketball History Project write-up states was the urging of several former players from the program. Yet, clearly the Hoyas have recruited this kid and presumably done so with the blessing of his father. Not every legacy will end up at the school. Recall that the greatest player in the program's history did not direct his son to the Hilltop initially.

Contrary? "Jackson retired from the NBA in 2003 and joined the Georgetown coaching staff as an assistant to Craig Esherick. Esherick's departure in March 2004 meant Jaren's departure as well; despite the urgings of a number of former players, Jackson was not retained as an assistant." www.hoyabasketball.com/features/top100/j_jackson.htm

Perhaps i'm wrong but I thought that a petition and urging of former players was not so much for keeping him on as an asst. coach but was to name him Head coach

If you think the "negativity' of this board is influencing a recruit allow me to introduce you to fans of the ACC, namely Duke/UNC and all of the SEC.

Yes that was my intent but it was early out here in the West and I should have stated it with better clarity.

Thank you.....The thought that Gtown fans saying the kid doesn't want to be a Hoya somehow makes him not want to be a Hoya is crazy. If we were talking badly about him or his family It would be a different story. But all anybody has said is that they don't believe Jr or Sr wants any parts of Gtown....

While we know who they are and can simply tune them out,.... unfortunately newcomers on this board can't distinguish one poster from another and take their posts at face value.

How about Jaren Jackson Jr. (No. 21 by 247sports composite), formerly of Park Tudor and now at LaLumiere? On Thursday, the same day Williams committed to Louisville, Jackson Jr. took an unofficial visit to Purdue. The Boilermakers are considered to be a major player for Jackson Jr., who hasn’t set any official visits or cut his list from his numerous offers (Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Alabama and Georgetown among them). It’s possible Jackson Jr. may just take a handful of unofficial visits before making a decision.
